Going through Recruitment this Fall

I'm a sophomore going through recuritment this fall and coming from a non-Greek family I am reeling from trying to prepare! I have spoken to friends at other school who went Greek but I am still worried about things from the process to attire. Any advice is appreciated!

P.S. - Can I post my school name? I see a lot of people use codes...

It's completely up to you. Just realize by posting your school and revealing information about yourself, sorority members from your school who could be reading this could have an easier time of picking you out.

Definately look at everything your school panhell website says. Then, if you're going to a competative school, you'll need to start getting recs lined up ASAP. Best of luck, let us know how it goes!

You can post the name if you want. Your best bet for advice is to read the stickied threads in the recruitment forums, especially the thread about recommendation letters.

I do go to a competitive school but I don't really have any Greek connections to write recs. I have been getting mixed replies on the weight of recs versus your application and inital appearance. I have tried family and friends but like I said I am not from a Greek family so I am not sure how to connect to alumni?

Yes, read the entire post.

Also use the SEARCH function and type in "recommendations" or "recs".

Read. Read more. Keep reading.

Peep this thread:

If your school is mentioned here, you need recs. PERIOD.

Teachers, coworkers, friends' brothers & sisters or parents, neighbors - these are some of the places you will find sorority alumnae.

Short course on preparation (not in any specific order, just what I consider important):

1) Resume
2) Photographs
3) Social Networks - should be impeccable/immaculate
4) Conversation skills
5) Appropriate apparel/attire/grooming (paging ellebud! or just do a search on her posts, she is a Goddess IMO)
6) Confident (not arrogant), positive, mature attitude
7) Recommendations and contact with Panhellenic alumnae group(s). For example, I have been approached by friends of friends who know that I am a GLO alumna. As a courtesy to them and to the PNM, I will meet and interview a PNM so that I can write a recommendation.
8) GPA should be at or above the GPA of the chapters you'll be meeting. If not, be prepared for heavy cuts.

Good luck to you!

Enjoy yourself. Recruitment is a fabulous opportunity. We're excited for you and we all hope that your outcome is positive.
