a quick question

Is Beta a secret sorority or does it have open rituals? Because I've heard both and was just curious!

Our rituas are private. Meaning that if a guest were invited, he/she would be allowed to witness the rituals, but they aren't exactly open to the public. Some rituals are more common to have a guest for, others its extremely unusual.

But if guests were allowed, wouldn't they technically be open? Because when I said secret, I meant the Ritual is known only by its members.

There are only a couple of rituals that rushees/guest hear. Formal Degree Rituals (ROJ to Master & it gets techincal after that) are private for members only. Plus as far as I know the Pledge Ritual is for members only.

I read a statement by Laura Ross Wingfield (I forget where...maybe Beta Bulletin Board or in the Torch) saying that all rituals may be witnessed by non-members, although they are meant to be kept private (invitation only, I guess). However, the rules clearly state that a member may not witness a ritual for which she is not yet qualified. To me, this means that a person who will never join Beta Sigma Phi may witness any ritual...a husband, for example.
