Sorority dues late 80s/early 90s

Google has failed me.

I'm trying to get an idea of what sorority dues would have cost for a housed sorority, 1989-1993 era, northeast USA, private university.

I've found some great info on tuition costs at various schools in that area, but nothing on sorority dues (be it per year, per semester, whatever).

Have you looked at campus newspapers? I remember the Red and Black publishing an article about sorority recruitment when I was an undergrad. It included average dues for chapters.

I graduated late 90s, NE liberal arts college, no houses. I want to say my dues were somewhere around 600 a semester, give or take, with the first semester of membership. I seem to remember the grand total being under 1400 (that included some fees that fell outside of dues). But I could be wrong...that is just in my head.

I fall exactly into what you're looking for and I don't remember. I know that at a certain round of rush/recruitment, the chapters gave out a piece of paper that listed the costs, but I doubt I kept the ones I was given, except possibly Chi Omega for my scrapbook, and I am not sure where that is right now. Probably out back in the storage shed, in a bin stacked with other bins.

Midwest - state college- 1983-1987 and our dues were $20 a month. I remember a huge ruckus when they tried to raise them to $25 and people didn't know how they would possibly pay that much so we compromised on $22 or $23 instead. Tuition was $45 a credit hour with 15 credit hours being an average load for about $1350 a year(for context). Minimum wage was $3.15.

My daughter went to Barnard from 2012-2016 and her sorority dues were $320 per semester which comes to $80 a month. Tuition was $45,000 a year. Minimum wages was $7.40, I think. Might have been higher in NYC.
