my sister went to david's bridal and her helper had her pretty upset. just uness. comments like "I dont think you should go with this style" and treated her like 15 year old shopping for a prom dress rather than a young woman shopping for her wedding gown.
but I want to use them for my bridesmaids since they are all over the US right now, but its crazy right now with their $99 dollar sale.

Anyone know of any good bridal stores in the Washington DC area?
Second choice, NJ, where I grew up and my mom is.

Just a suggestion for y'all.... have you looked at the dresses at J.Crew? They are cute enough that the bridesmaids can wear them again but fancy enough for your wedding. And the prices aren't that bad. You can call their catalog and be put in touch with their Special Occasions department you will help you with everything having to do with the dresses.

I believe there's a cute bridal shop in the Watergate Hotel. Don't know much else about it.
ETA: My parents stayed at the Watergate and told me about it, and I saw it once also. However, I can't find it online. If you live close enough to it, you might want to go there or call to see if it's still there.

Dress Site
I'm not sure if this has been posted...forgive me if it has. I was at a bridal show today, and learned about this charity called Brides Against Cancer. It's really neat. After people are done with their wedding gowns, they donate it to Brides Against Cancer. Then, other women buy the dress and all of the money is gone to breast cancer research. The dresses are super discounted too. I just thought it was really great, so I'm passing it on

There's no way I'm ever getting married anytime soon, but I really like this dress:
I just wish it came with some kind of sleeves, you know? I'm a little too big up there to be wearing a strapless for too long, but it's tough to find even formals with wider straps or sleeves that don't look ridiculous. Love the skirt, though.
Another one I love:
And also pretty:

I tried on a dress like the first one you posted Stef and that damn dress must have weighed 12 pounds. I couldn't believe it. I was tired after walking around in it & modeling & all the hoopla. Still, it was very beautiful & I did love it.
As for the David's stuff, I had a great experience there. The consultant I saw was simply awesome & he helped me out in every way possible. Absolutely no pressure. Unfortunately, he got sick 2 months before my wedding and quit working there and no one heard from him again since I did go back & ask. I wanted to give him a gift for all his help to me.

Yep. Cobalt Blue. And my bridesmaids are getting alfred Angelo dresses in cobalt as well. I told them I didnt care which dress they picked, as long as it was cobalt and they were comfortable. The guys are gonna wear silver vests and blue ties (as close to cobalt as we can find).

Hahaha, my favorite formal from high school/freshman formal is all beads and weighs just about as much, too...looks GREAT on, but man, I gotta sit down a lot!
Love the white/blue dress posted, too. The contrast on that is what makes it really pretty, IMHO.
