It interests me how much greek interest there is at Quinnipiac after growing up in the area. Good for them.

There's been some questions about Belmont. It seems as if their Panhellenic and their campus admin are at a disconnect on the matter of expansion.

I have no way of knowing, but I sincerely hope the campus admin is not quietly questioning the Panhellenic's NPC group choice.

Here's a news article where they discuss the impasse between administration and Greek Life on expansion: http://belmontvision.com/2014/11/stu...-2020-meeting/.

I've heard from multiple sources that the issue is the pending administrative approval, but that the sorority chosen was Gamma Phi Beta.

What I am hearing locally is that the administration questions the need for another org being on campus. I think they're waiting to see if the spikes in growth are temporary or long term before approving further growth. I have not heard anything about who was chosen.

^^What acg233 and amIblue? said.

From my sources the situation is the admin being concerned about if the growth in pnms will sustain and/or continue, not about any of the groups that presented.

from the article:

'Senior Danni Kosturko, president of Belmont Panhellenic Association, asked Fisher about the possibility of adding another sorority to help manage the growing number of women interested in Greek life. She also asked for more meeting space for sororities.

Fisher acknowledged spacing for Greek organizations is an issue, but said the size of the sororities isn’t. He compared them to larger Southeastern Conference schools with chapters boasting well over 200 members.

Kosturko said Fisher’s response was disappointing.

“Being in a community that has done so much for this campus, and asks for very little, I was hoping to have our problems recognized and acknowledged,” she said in a statement emailed to the Vision. “Instead, we were compared to other SEC schools and given a very generic, ‘We’re looking into it’ response.” '

I was surprised? disappointed? unsure of word I'm looking for? by the president basically saying "Well, the SEC sorororities have large chapters. Y'all can do the same."

But this brings about a big question: Shouldn't Belmont's Panhellenic had gotten on the same page as Belmont's Administration before they opened for expansion and held presentations?

Congratulations to the Kappa Alpha Order colony at the University of Arkansas-Monticello. They were rechartered earlier this month.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon has closed their Ohio University chapter. Closure is due to RMF. According to the article, last month half of the chapter was suspended for "refusing to take part in a review process which involved member interviews, grade evaluations and a hair-follicle drug test".

Sorry for the triple posts.

Delta Sigma Phi has been closed at San Diego State University(CA). Closure is due to RMF and actions by members at a "Take Back the Night" event recently held on campus.

Arkansas Tech University has invited two fraternities to colonize. Pi Kappa Alpha will be colonizing this Spring. Kappa Alpha will recolonize in Spring '16.
