New Initiates in Alpha Delta Pi have to buy a pin, even if they have their choice of legacy pins. I'm not sure if a basic pin part of the initiation fee (although I doubt it).

Alpha Xi requires the purchase of a badge, our minimum is a plain, gold-filled quill, which I believe runs around $50

Oh ... AEPhi does offer one exception to the requirement to buy a badge. If you are a legacy, and your grandmother, mother, or sister (who must be an alumna) gifts you her badge, you are exempt from the requirement to buy a new badge.

Everyone must purchase a Gamma Phi Beta badge. Legacies were exempt until this past year (they can still wear an heirloom badge, but now they must buy their own, as well).

From my daughter, I know that Pi Phi provides a plain gold-filled badge as part of the new member fee. Members can choose to buy a fancier, additional badge if desired. We bought her a gold badge with a diamond in the arrowhead, but most of her chapter sisters stuck with the basic, provided badge. A couple of her sisters have the legacy badge, which I think is really neat and I wish we had that.

Not near a copy of Bairds Manual right now, but wasn't there an old, defunct fraternity called W.W.W. Club with a similar badge? The badge does look newer, so I'm probably incorrect.

Hahaha...seriously! Actually, I think it might be upside down. When I turned my phone upside down, it looks like there might be a Lambda and a Y. Or an A. Maybe....

You're right! The mystery has been solved. it's from the now-defunct Mary Arden Club at the University of North Texas.

Oh,my! I was a member of both Junior Mary Arden and Mary Arden. Junior Mary was more selective, requiring a 3.5 GPA plus an A in English the first semester of our Freshman year. We had about 20 members on a campus of 14,400. Freshman English was a killer and many flunked out their Freshman year as a result. As I remember, we were automatically moved up to Mary Arden as an upper classmen. Or women! Both clubs were for women only. We didn't really do much other than have teas. Nor did we have a lodge or pins such in the earlier years. With our one year deferred rush, those in Junior Mary were automatically on our radar.

I am VERY curious about this badge!! It certainly looks like it's akin to Chi Omega, but I don't think it's ours. The date on the back is 1926.
