The Sigma Chi chapter at George Mason University(VA) has been officially recognized by the university. The chapter lost recognition 10 years ago, but continued to operate as a fully functioning chapter of Sigma Chi.

I definitely remember an announcement several years back that we were going to be colonizing there, but then it never happened. Hopefully we will attempt again.

They had a LOT of expansion REALLY quickly and it may have been that cooler heads prevailed and wanted to make sure it was sustained interest, not just a unique bump.

It was officially announced that it would be a 2 group stack when Gamma Phi Beta and Theta Phi Alpha presented back in 2009, but then Panhellenic decided to just invite one group to colonize in 2010. Playing into the situation was a bit of an open door for Tri Sigma to recolonize when they felt ready, which happened in 2013.

Per Omega Phi Alpha's Facebook page, as well as my accepting of their Petition for Charter, the Virginia Tech Colony will be chartered as the Alpha Rho Chapter on March 25th!!
