Tennis Elbow

Has anyone had a really bad case of tendonitis? How long did it take to heal? I've been doing the therapy and wearing the brace for over a month, and it seems to be getting worse, not better. To be fair, I didn't see a doctor about it until I had it for over a month.

Ideas? Suggestions?

I see a physiatrist (a physical medicine specialist); check to see if there's one near you. Invaluable, and a totally different approach to musculo-skeletal-neurological challenges. Worth every penny spent.

I also swear by intense Physical Therapy (do the exercises prescribed inbetween visits), and acupuncture.

good luck, Honey. Keep a positive outlook on this.

I got it a few years ago, thankfully at the end of the season, but it took the entire summer to get better, and it still flares up from time to time. I went to a sports orthopedic doctor and he treated it with anti-inflammatories and rest.

Good luck, it is truly a pain in the bottom (and the elbow).

Are you icing it and stretching? Are you doing things that make it worse?

Whenever you do something that makes it worse, stop if you can (I know that if it's work related you can't really stop, but it helps a lot). I use an athletic therapist, I find them to be much more useful than physiotherapists (they spend 3-4 years learning and specializing in an area that pt students spend a year learning). Also, their entire purpose is to rehab. Hope this helps, tendonitis is not a good time!

Thanks for all of your suggestions!

I did see a sports doctor (not going to pretend I know the difference), who also has a sports therapy clinic. That's where I got my exercises & weights etc. I've been doing the exercises religiously, wearing the brace, etc. But, I have been lifting things over 20 pounds. How else am I going to get all of my things out of this house in a week/2 weeks max? I'm trying to just box things, then hire someone to physically move them, but that doesn't always work well.

It just looks so red and swollen, it makes me think that there's something wrong.
