rude girls
So I was in a communications class the other day, and the professor was talking about people fitting in at college, and two girls in my class started talking about how sorority girls are just b*tches, and that they just join sororities to have friends, and that they are paying for their friends which is pathetic. I was so steamed after I heard these comments, but unfortunately the conversation ended because class was over. Should I confront these girls next class? Because I am really hurt that they are stereotyping every sorority girl together just because they might have met a few rotten girls. What should I do?

Sadly there's nothing you could probably say to these girls that could make them change their minds.
My advice is to keep maintaining a positive image for sororities and greek life throughout all of your endeavors. Wearing your letters to class, while contributing to insightful discussions, can help others begin to put sorority girls in a positive light. I love it when people say "I would have never thought you were in a sorority!" And then proceed to ask me questions. Sometimes, girls even decide to either COB or try formal recruitment.
There is a large problem with prejudice of the greek system in general. Notions of "buying your friends" are prevalent, and others see sorority sisters and fraternity brothers and alcoholic partiers.
So that was a longer-winded answer to your question. One thing to consider is approaching the girls after class, explaining that their comments (especially the b*tches comment) were very hurtful to you. Explain that you understand that they did not mean to generalize, but that they may not have realized how offensive their comments really were.
And if that doesn't work, there's always slashing their tires .

thanks a lot....all of that advice has made me feel ten times better. And I agree with you; I have had friends that thought frats and sororities were just for rich kids and partiers, but then they met really nice and down to earth people and they regretted saying those things. I feel like its all in the person on how they act, not the group they are associated with necessarily. i will definitely be wearing my letters proudly tomorrow in that class!

What you can do to piss these girls off is be absoultely hot, and feed them as much doughnuts as you can so they can get fat and smelly.
That is the ultimate victory for sorority girls. Being prettier than GDIs.

Ignore the comments and lead by example. Encourage your sisters to do the same. You can't change people's perceptions of Greeks overnight and you're certainly not going to do it by getting into an arguement with these girls.
If you really want to fight City Hall, organize a Scholarship Supper at the house where you invite some of the students from your classes to come and learn about your sorority and to collectively celebrate your class's academic accomplishments.
Or go and sit next to the girls for the next few classes. Invite them to study with you or to dinner at the house.

I don't think those girls are going to go to a Scholarship Supper, but the concept of re-educating them is nice.
Have to agree with the other posters: living well is the best revenge. Be sweet, intelligent, and warm, and when they say, "I wouldn't have guessed you were in a sorority!" take the opportunity to tell them the great things about membership.
Although I support tire-slashing, also.

Is that the kind Wayne has in a special dispenser inside his car? I can't tell, but it looks like it's wound up in the package.
Also, in the "About" section, note the candy has a "desireable appearance."
