Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Founders Day
On Friday evening, November 17, 1911, three Howard University undergraduate students, with the assistance of their faculty adviser, gave birth to the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. This event occurred in the office of biology Professor Ernest E. Just, the faculty adviser, in the Science Hall (now known as Thirkield Hall). The three liberal arts students were Edgar A. Love, Oscar J. Cooper and Frank Coleman. From the initials of the Greek phrase meaning "Friendship is Essential to the Soul," the name Omega Psi Phi was derived. The phrase was selected as the motto. Manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift were adopted as cardinal principles.
Happy Birthday Bruhs !!!
May we have 94 more years of leading the way in every Health, Socialogical, Educational, and Human Rights issues.

Happy Founders' Day to all my Que brothers all over the world!!!!God bless our Fraternity and may the friendship that existed between Edgar A. Love, Oscar J. Copper, Frank Coleman (known on the Howard University campus as the "Three Musketeers" because of their inseparable friendship) and their faculty advisor,Dr. Ernest E. Just, our honourable Founders, last forever in this venerable brotherhoood and be a testament to mankind of God's goodness and love.
Words of wisdom from Founder, Bishop Edgar A. Love:
"Everywhere in my travels around the world and since the founding of this fraternity, Omega men have taken the role of leadership on a national and international scale...[W]e must thoroughly understand that the cardinal principles upon which the founders built Omega, namely Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift, must stand forever as a burning light guiding the destiny of all Omega men in the service of God and mankind."--The Oracle, Summer 1971, p.36.
"Omega calls her Sons of Light, her newborn blazing glory, her older heroes honor dight and her Immortals hoary to meet, to greet, to chase all gloom away, and thinking bring the everlasting day..."--The first stanza of "Omega Calla Her Sons of Light," the first Omega Psi Phi Hymn by Bro. Herman Dreer, Ph.D. and Bro. Carl Diton

Happy Founders Day...
I have loved this fraternity every since I have known of its existence. Although I am not a member, I will continue to love Omega Psi Phi and I pray that the light will continue to shine even until Christ returns.

Many happy returns of the day!
(Incidentally, I met a wonderful brother of your fraternity a few months ago. He was training for his first triathlon (Ironman Florida...wow, what a first triathlon) at the YMCA I work at and came in not knowing how to swim at all. He not only learned how to swim , but he FINISHED the Ironman in very respectable time. He was racing for chairity, but I don't remember which one. All around, just a great guy. (p.s., an Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and then a full 26.2 mile marathon)
