Need input on extension process

I am working on a video explaining the extension process to Alumnae. Our goal is to educate alumnae about the process and make them aware of the need for alumnae support when the extension occurs in their area.

Is anyone willing to share their experience and/or how their organization communicates with alums about extension?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I would contact your (and by your username I suspect "our") National Headquarters. I am sure that there is information readily available.

Just include the information on the process from the NPC MOI (Green Book). It should be on Phi Mu's closed portion of the web site.

We are wanting info from other organizations. I am working with HQs already as part of the Project Team. We are wanting to put a personal touch on the video and so I was hoping to get some personal experiences from people who have been involved.

Thank you for responding - there have been times when I've posted on here and received no responses!

Why not reach out to phi Mu alumnae chapters located near current colonies and recently chartered chapters? They could give you more insight, advice and anecdotes as it pertains to your sorority. Speaking sister to sister will also probably be more meaningful to your intended audience than remarks from strangers.

OK, I didn't understand what you were asking. We meet with the local alumnae in person and talk about the process and what specifically that potential chapter will need - housing, no housing, advisers, etc. We don't have a generic presentation to send to alums in general. Communication with them about extension is usually campus specific.

Find a way to make alumnae understand that you can't just "restart the chapter" the way fraternities can. In other words, expansion 101 (the other chapters have to be at total, etc). My alma mater has had several fraternities return and if I have to explain to my sisters one more time that sororities don't work that way, that the process is much more involved, I am going to tear my hair out and eat it.

This is important because there might be an alumna who says "well I'm not going to help the chapter at Lohan U because they have yet to reopen my chapter at Hilton State." Never mind that Hilton State hasn't added any sororities since 1960 and is having trouble keeping the 3 that are there at a total of 30. Things are much less loosey-goosey than they used to be where expansion is concerned, mainly because of expense. Lots of alumnae just don't get that.
