I think the final number of women that started recruitment was 1607. This removes all those cut for grades as well as any duplicates.
Does "cut for grades" mean just whatever the bare minimum that Panhellenic requires to participate in recruitment, and that the individual sororities will be doing whatever grade-cutting they need to do later on?

Yup I'll be back on Bloomington next weekend.

And yes cut for grades would be the minimum Panhellenic

So would appreciate any advice about how she can try to determine the size of last years' pledge classes so that she can, as recommended above, keep some of the high number chapters in her upper group? Thanks!

What exactly does ADPi's 83+1 mean in a system without quota?

Hi, first time posting. Finally talked to my daughter today to hear how 21 party went for her at IU. She heard some interesting news - it sounds like some houses that historically have not allowed seniors to live out are changing their policy. Specifically Zeta Tau Alpha and Alpha Chi Omega will now allow seniors to live out. I hope this is true, and that maybe it's the beginning of IU getting rid of their bed quota policy. One can only hope...

So is DPhiE's colonization still on? If so, when is their colonization recruitment taking place? I assume the PNMs are aware that the new colony is an option if they don't find their home during FR?

Yes, DPhiE's colonization is still on. Their informal recruitment begins immediately after FR, and PNMs are aware of the option. Here's a link to their FB app with info on their recruitment events: https://apps.facebook.com/bedphienew/

First, I hope the students are able to complete their readings and course prep prior to their first classes today.

Second, PNMs should do their research before dropping from recruitment and pursuing the new colony. This completely neutral advice. Do your homework. Make your decision as an adult.

You make two good points. Also, if the previous two colonies are any indication, the new colony may take as few as 80 women and probably no more than 160 since they do not have a house and will not be losing any seniors to graduation. Also, they will take some upperclassmen to give them balance among the classes (freshmen, sophs, juniors).

ADPi's quota was definitely not 83 last year. It was 72 I think and the 20% flex made it 83-84.

Why would a PNM drop from recruitment to pursue the new colony?

It means they matched 83 and then added one COB or snap

Because they aren't getting the invites back they want....and they think they'll have a better time/chance/not feel so out of place/not be left out/etc/etc/etc if they do this.
