When did they decide that the pageant was going to be in September again instead of this coming January? I could see her having a better case if the rules were unclear because of that change, since obviously if the pageant were still going to be in January, she would already be 25 at that time and ineligible for sure. But with them moving it back to September…

Miss America held their national pageant in January 2013 for Miss America 2013, then again in September 2013 crowning Miss America 2014. Both young ladies happened to hail from the state of New York, and as discussed on GC both were NPC Greeks (Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Kappa).

The location changes were the reason for the date changes. When the pageant left Atlantic City for Vegas, they date was moved from Sept. to January. Then when it was moved back to Atlantic City, the date was changed back to September.

The contestant contract *should* have the correct eligibility date in it. I couldn't find an official 2014 contestant contract, but I did find the 2013 contract in several places:
http://www.misssd.org/pageant_forms/...t_Contract.pdf

http://www.missnewmexico.org/images/...ntContract.pdf

http://misssouthernvalley.weebly.com...t-fillable.pdf

Page 2, Section 2.2:
"2.2. Age. I am currently ____ years of age. I was born on _______________, 19___. I understand that, in order to be eligible to compete, I must: (1) be a high school senior before the date of my first Local competition; (2) have been at least seventeen (17) years of age at the time of my first appearance in the preliminary round of the Local or State competition that I am entering in anticipation of this year’s National Finals, and (2) be no older than twenty-four (24) years of age on December 31, 2013. A copy of my birth certificate is included with Attachment A, the Supplemental Fact Sheet. "

On the Miss Maryland Website, they seem to use that same language and change the dates to 2014:
"Additional Information Regarding Age Eligibility:
The age eligibility requirements are based on a calendar year ending December 31st, not a pageant cycle, and remain unchanged.

Section 2 of the Contestant Contracts state:
2.2. Age. I am currently ____ years of age. I was born on _______________, 19_____. I understand that, in order to be eligible to compete, I must: (1) be a high school senior before the date of my first Local competition; (2) have been at least seventeen (17) years of age at the time of my first appearance in the preliminary round of the Local or State competition that I am entering in anticipation of this year’s National Finals, and (2) be no older than twenty-four (24) years of age on December 31, 2014. A copy of my birth certificate and a copy of my driver’s license or a government issued identification card are included with Attachment A, the Supplemental Fact Sheet. A contestant cannot be older than twenty-four (24) years of age on December 31st of the year she is chosen to represent her state in the National Finals. Please note According to the Contestant Contracts for the 2014 local competition leading to your 2014 State Competition, a contestant cannot be 25 years old before December 31st 2014."

UPDATED: Found a 2014 Contestant Contract:

When you sign a contract agreeing to something it's your responsibility to understand what you are signing. As unfortunate as this situation is, ultimately the fault lies with the contestant who didn't do her due diligence and read what it was that she was signing and attesting to. A very public and painful lesson for her, but ultimately, it's as much her fault as it was the pageants.

Personally, I do think the pageant officials really dropped the ball not his and need to do more than just allow her to keep the scholarship money. No clue what, but they really messed up. If an official is telling you "you're fine" and you're young and trusting, chances are you're going to believe them and go with it.

Just looked her up in our member directory to confirm. She's an ADPi from our Delta chapter at the University of Texas. Does that make five ADPis in the pageant now?

Does anyone know if the newly crowned Miss Teen America, K. Lee Graham of South Carolina, is a member of a GLO?

ETA: Never mind - she's only a junior in high school, but hopes to go to USC.

Swerve, but is that some weird way of spelling Kaylee/Kailee? If so, how unfortunate.

Google says that it's a childhood nickname and her real name is Katherine. Also, she should look into attending Clemson, just saying

BUMPING ^^^

Once again this year the missamerica.org site has one minute, online videos of each contestant available for viewing. You are asked to vote for your favorite contestant, moving her toward the America's Choice spot within the Top Fifteen on Finals Night on Sunday, September fourteenth. It's fun to vote, and you do not have to watch any of the videos to do so.

Great Picture! Very glad that they did this! Go ADPi Sisters!

Yet, these are real women - wouldn't you love to read their minds right about now?
