I am 1/2 Canadian -- my mom is Canadian and an Alpha Phi. I am not from a Canadian Alpha Phi chapter though.
What part of Canada are you from? Most of my family lives in Newfoundland and New Brunswick.
Welcome to GC, Alpha_phi9!

I'm the chapter adviser of a Canadian chapter (UBC), and I'm on my way to becoming Canadian sometime in 2005 - does that count?
There were lots of Canadian Alpha Phis at convention - too bad you weren't there.

great news
Great to meet everyone!
We just had one of two info sessions for formal recruitment yesterday. We had 33 girls come out! Which maybe small compared to you but is great for us! All my sisters are pumped, we are gonna do great this year!

WTG Nicky! That is a big number for you...how exciting!
ETA: I know how to say 'eh! Does that win me any brownie points with the Canadian crowd?

Sure! I grew up in Wisconsin. Closest thing you can get to being Canadian without having to sing their national anthem.
Oh I'm sorry...was that a zinger CK????

Sorry to crash ....but I used to be the Panhellenic Adviser at U of Manitoba/Winnipeg from 2000-02. Alpha Phi really worked hard during their reorganization 2.5 years ago, and are an amazing group of women!
YES - 33 women is TERRIFIC - I remember my first year there - quota was (really).... 2 (yep, TWO).
Yeah - keep up the news from the 'Peg - sorry for the crappy summer - and say hi to Lee-Anne Rodstam for me!!

Thanks for the optimism Sistermadly, but we don't have the 33 yet :P they just came to formal recruitment info sessions. and we had 7 come out today. It is still way more than last year. And Formal Recruitment isn't until next week so we have lots of time to spread the word and market Alpha Phi. Wow Neon Pi, it's really nice to meet you! do u still live in Winnipeg? If so, we should definately get together. We had our 75th annivesary last year at Hotel Fort Garry. We had a bunch of alumni come out. Unfortunately we don't see them that much, so it's hard to have that bond there but we're trying to chnage that. I will tell Lee ann, we even have a recruitment retreat tonight, it's gonna be a blast.

Love,
Nicky

Well it's starting of COB and we now have 6 great pledges for our New Member class. (3 of them from Formal recruitment, we made quota) Everyone did such a great job. Last year was my first year in doing formal recruitment and what a difference this year. Everyone was so much more prepared and had a great time. I just know we're gonna double our chapter this year! And it seems that everyone in the manitoba greek system is also doing great! Word is definately getting around..finally! :P
