Stolen topic: Which founder would you like to have met?
Okay, so I saw this question on the Delta Sigma Theta forum and thought it was a great question - so now I ask all of you:
Which of our wonderful founders would you like to have met and why? (Yes, you have to pick just one).

Just ONE? I can't decide between Cora and Harriet! And then there's Lucy, who is the mysterious one, so it would be fun to just know more about her.
I guess I'd have to go with Harriet, though. She was so much ahead of her time, it would be interesting to see what she was like.

It's got to be Alice
I guess I have to answer...
I have to pick Alice - mainly because her daughter was in the local alum assoc when I was in school and her great-grand-daughter was in my chapter. I guess it would also be interesting to hear her side of things as the youngest founder and, of course, hear about the Sigma Nu love of her life.

Great question, stolen or not!
Julia and I would have lots to discuss, because she was SO devoted to little children. A kindergarten teacher for her entire life, she described her goal as being "absolutely true to the little people entrusted to me, for I am sure that the most careful and thoughtful training should be given in the earliest years. My watchword is 'service' and my greatest interest along educational lines. I expect to work as long as I can for the bettering conditions both educationally and socially for the little children." Since I'm the mother of two very little boys and obsess about their education, this kind of devotion to and passion for educating little minds just makes my heart sing.
Cora would be great to meet. She just seems like she had it all together, then and throughout her life.
And Francis was a suffragette and Harriett a feminist, so we would have had lots of good discussions.
But I think I would pick Alice, because she was at Lombard the longest and must have been part of the decisionmaking group when we finally gave up the ghost on Kappa and decided to become our own national. I wonder how that all must have transpired -- I mean, 9 years is a LONG time to be courting a national, if that's what we did. I have visions of the KKG Grand Council Officers discussing the matter: "Yeah, we got another letter from those crazy women at Lombard! When will they get the message?!" Do they have letters in the Kappa archives: "Dear KKG, It's us again. Won't you please reconsider ..."? This can't have been what happened; by all accounts our founders were lovely women and would have been welcomed by anyone. So what happened during those 9 years, and when/how/why did we change our mind about becoming national in our own rite? Alice could answer these questions!

Lucy! I'm reading her "part" at our chapter's founders day celebration this year. She is kind of mysterious, huh?

Yikes! 31, I should have read this BEFORE I went to FD, so I would have known who you were! Now I can't remember who read what.

I would pick Lewie. She designed the Quill and I hope to be a graphic designer. I do all the creative art stuff for our chapter......so who better to choose than the artist founder!

In honor of Founders' Day I thought I would revive this old thread.
