Central Oklahoma Rush
I received preliminary information on Tuesday about our Rush #'s (IFC groups only).
My chapter had given 21 bids with 21 bids accepted on Teusday (they decided to establish a cutoff at 30 for this pledge class).
I won't give the other numbers, but I think we were about 5 ahead of the #2 people on Teusday.
One group had signed 16, but 5 of their people were not even enrolled at the University (they have a house to fill). It would do my heart good to tell everyone who that was, but I'm not one to spread rumors which is all that is to me at this time, but it's funny enough to share with the names removed to protect the potentially innocent.
I'm very excited to see the chapter I helped to get off the ground doing so well in Rush. Now I'm going to have to learn about 30 new names.
ETA: I don't know how NPC groups did, but I'm pretty sure it went off as usual, all groups but 1 probably made quota.

I wondered if you were affiliated with the chapter at UCO. I graduated from that campus as did my husband (also greek). I was wondering how your chapter was doing. Sounds like your guys are doing great! Always good to hear.

Yeah, UCO is a campus that is really growing. Rush is wide open too. A group can basically decide how many guys it wants to take. There are so few of us and really such a huge untapped pool. The groups that aren't succeeding are just going about it wrong.
Very unlike a campus like OU where every single guy goes through formal rush. Some organizations there even have "honorary" members where you pay a one time fee and can go to all the parties but don't have to go to meetings or pledge or anything like that, you're just automatically voted in. Our chapter doesn't do that, but wow.

I hope Pike doesn't do that, either. I'll bet I can guess who had the 16.

I exaggerated, not every single guy, but it seems like that.
Probably a couple thousand if I could guess.
But yeah, some of the larger houses have honorary members just for parties. In my opinion, that is not what fraternity life is about.

Kt about rush at OU, only about 500-600 went through formal fraternity rush this year. And my numbers could be very off but i know it wasn't much more.
Congrats on the rush for the UCO chapter.
The Pikes there said they just signed 36 with a possible ten more on the rush teams possible signing list.

Really? After sitting through all those formal presentations, it seemed like way more than that.
PKA at UCO always does very well for Rush. I think the two newest chapters are really shaking up the Greek System at UCO. I think they prove that the guys that have been there forever have lost touch with the students at the school and what they're looking for in a fraternity.
I'm also of the opinion that if another colony like PKA moves in that it will actually work to grow the Greek system rather than take away from it.

yeah i bet new blood is exactly what the campus needed and with more new colonies the greek community will change yet again and growth will occur.
And yeah i am fairly sure those are accurate numbers.
