Toddler Shot By 4 Year Old Brother
First Coast New Staff

HOUSTON, TX-- A toddler in Texas is clinging to life after being shot in the head by his 4-year-old brother.

Police say the two were playing at home when the two year old threw a toy at his older brother.
"The four year old was angry with the two year old. There was a fight going on. He knew where their mother had the gun, in her purse. He went and got the gun, put it to his brothers head, and shot the gun," says Sgt. Cameron Grysen with the Houston Police Department.

Officers say the bullet entered the two-year-old's head at the temple and went all the way through. He was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston, Texas where he is listed in critical condition.

The young boy was being taken away by police with his hands wrapped in paper bags. Police say it was so they could preserve evidence.

Police say the 4-year-old has since been asking for his little brother. They will bring in an officer trained in working with children to talk to him.

I hope the mother is torn up inside. She deserves it! I also hope her ass is charged. What the hell is she thinking having an UNLOCKED gun in her pocketbook?

If that child dies, his blood will be on her hands

Only an idiot keeps an unlocked gun in a house where there are children! As badly as this mother feels, she should be taken in for child endangerment!

I don't see how placing the mother in jail somehow benefits society.

This is viscerally tragic . . . but lets not lose a sense of proportion.

Yeah, I mean, its Nature's Law. Survivial of the fittest. This reminds me of that episode of Dallas.

This time, I disagree, James - to a point. I think she should be arrested, and put on probation, not jail time. And her other child needs to be protected from her!

What on earth would be the point of arrest and probation?
