AZD vs AXiD
I was just wondering what everyone perfers. I have heard that when abbr. Alpha Xi Delta it is supposed to AZD but I know that my chapter has always used AXiD. Some girls really hate to use AZD because people will mistake it for Alpha Zeta Delta. Which one do you like to use more?

I always use either the symbol font to get the correct greek letters or AXiD .. AZD has always read as Alpha Zeta Delta to me.

Pretty much always AXiD. The Z just makes me think of Zeta.

Say "Alpha Xi Delta," but take off the Al and the Delta.

Whenever I write down our letters (like in my planner or something), I always use AXD... but if I type it, I usually type AZD or spell it out

I'm an AXiD girl. I don't know, seeing AZD just get under my skin because I've seen too many people go "Alpha Zeta Delta?"
Of course, when I write it down it usually going to be AXD or Alpha Xi.

Speaking of...
A fraternity on our campus invited our alum group to play in their philanthropy (alum b/c we closed last year, so still collegiates). On campus, we're really known as "AXiD" but when spoken aloud sounds like "AZD" and one of the fraternity men making the t-shirts took "AZD" literally...the t-shirts had all of the other sororities' full names correct... and "Alpha Zeta Delta." We ended up getting a few free ones thanks to that mistake. We now have an unnofficial nick-name for our alum group-- AZD- Alpha Zeta Delta.

I feel that AXiD or Alpha Xi are much better abbreviations than AZD. I've found that on campuses with Alpha Xi Delta & Delta Zeta, pnm's may get AZD and DZ confused.

AZD and Fuzzie
i dont like AZD...i prefer to say Alpha Xi, its just as easy. everyone around our campus calls us AZD and i dont like it. once we got a philanthropy packet from DG and it said Alpha Zeta Delta on it. we returned it and said "sorry thats not us..." we dont say Fuzzie either. it just sounds...bad lol. i think if we started using it on our campus, everyone would just laugh.

AZD is Alpha Zeta Delta, I don't care what anyone says!
I encourage and use AXiD whenever and wherever

I'm coming in late to this, but that story made me think of something that happened when I was in the chapter. Our brother fraternity had their philanthropy going on and one of the guys wrote about it for the school newspaper. We had won one of the events and he wrote our name as "Alpha Zeta Delta". We all knew him, and he never lived it down. From then on we just called him Zeta Boy.

In my chapter it is stressed that we do not say "AZD" but Alpha Xi, as it is very important for brand image. We have even gone as far asking chapter presidents as well as Panhellenic to refer to us as Alpha Xi. When you have AEPhi and ADPi on your campus, you need some way to make sure PNMs and anyone for that matter, knows its always you that is being spoken of, that can be especially confusing during recruitment; I know I was a Rho Gamma last year, and I saw it first hand.
