Kappa Alpha Theta was selected to recolonize at the University of Vermont and to absorb the Kappa Beta Gamma group.

Wow. That is 2 selection notices in 2 days (it was also mentioned that we were chosen at Tampa). Vermont was our Lambda chapter. Yay for getting a single letter chapter back!

Initial colonization recruitment activities will be conducted in fall 2010 and Alpha Gamma Delta will participate in Formal Recruitment in spring 2011.
“We are proud to be invited back to the campus on which our organization was founded,” said Stephannie Sack Bailey, Executive Director. “Alpha Gamma Delta will positively contribute to the Syracuse community by living the values of the Fraternity that our Founders established more than a century ago.”
From its inception, Syracuse University has been the embodiment of its vision statement—Scholarship in Action. Located among the rolling hills of Central New York, SU continues to create opportunities for students and faculty to push limits, build pathways and make connections that lead to new discoveries and transformational change.
Alpha Gamma Delta was founded in 1904 at Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York as a women’s fraternity dedicated to scholarship, leadership and community service.
Yes, we have an official announcement now!
Alpha! What a happy sound, you've gotta have Alpha to make the world go round,
Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Gamma Delta makes the world go round!

I'm so excited for AGD...congrats on recolonization! I knew about the decision since last Friday, but I didn't want to say anything on the board before we let Alpha Gamma Delta know of our official decision.
I do want to let everyone know that Syracuse is psyched for this recolonization. When I read out the vote at our last meeting, it was so exciting to hear each sorority vote yay...this was a unanimous decision and it will be wonderful for our Greek community. I'll be on campus next year to witness the chapter's return and I will keep you all updated!

Is Kappa Beta Gamma still active? Several of their chapters have been absorbed by NPC groups recently. I looked at their web site and it is just a static page. It looks like they are a small organization with a long history; does anyone know what's going on with them?

Well I know that when we had that big thread about KD and KBG at F&M last year, several of their national officers posted here saying that there was interest in KBG expansion, there were new colonies in the works, and a new website coming. So I am guessing they are still active.

In an earlier post, it was announced that Alpha Sigma Alpha is absorbing the Beta Sigma Phi chapter at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Another local group, Delta Rho Sorority, has been informed that they must disband or affiliate with a NPC organization.

Congrats to Theta & your Lambda chapter! While all re-colonizations/re-charterings are fantastic, the single letters are especially exciting. Congratulations!!
And AGD- recolonizing an Alpha chapter is absolutely monumental. Absolutely priceless. So double congratulations to you!
