I got to see her read Phenomenal Woman back in '96. It was a pretty neat experience.

About 10 years ago, I heard that Maya Angelou would be speaking in my hometown. Tickets went on sale at 10:00 a.m. on a specified day. I arrived at the ticket office early, had trouble finding a place to park, and witnessed lots of people in the auditorium's lobby. To my surprise -- I was the only one there for Maya Angelou tickets! I was able to get 4 seats on the 2nd row!!

She was... phenomenal.
