Recs, recs, recs!

Hello again! I posted a few days ago that my account here is new but I've been reading this site for a couple years.

Since I will be going to an SEC school, my local alumnae council said at a meeting that I should try to get two recs for each house. Some say this is crazy, others might say this is necessary. Either way, I've been able to get about 20 women to say that they will write recs for me. I know that several have already completed it, but some of the others I haven't heard from since I sent my resume and picture. So I have a couple questions. Do I email them to remind them? Do I email them to ask if they need any more info from me? Is there proper etiquette for it? Should I just not say anything and assume they will all remember to do it? Help! Also, do any of you GCers write recs? I'm still missing a couple houses. Thanks and hope everyone has a great day!

Did you mail thank you notes to your reference writers? I would suggest you do that for each of the 20 ladies writing for you. This is a gentle reminder to those you haven't heard from. There is really no way of knowing if they followed through or not. Don't worry about the ones you don't have. It's a bit late unless one falls in your lap.

Suggestion to any PNMs or future PNMs reading this - enclose a stamped, self addressed post card in your rec packet so all the rec writer has to do is drop it in the mail. Then you know if she sent the rec. I got some really cute ones in packets this year. Just dropped it in the mail when I mailed the rec!

What would be the wording on the postcard? My goddaughter is creating her packets right now BUT her recruitment is not till the last week of September.

The one I'm putting in the mail tomorrow says" Please place this post card in the mail when you send your recommendation. My name and GLO, thank you, PNM"

Several of the women that agreed to write them are my Facebook friends or teachers (aka women whose addresses I don't have), and all my rec "packets" were sent via email because it seemed all the chapters at my school take online submissions. So should I send out a thank you email or just let it go? I've already thanked them in the other correspondences I've had with them.

I think that Pi Phi is at all the SEC schools and we don't take online submissions.

If you are FB friends with them, can't you get their addresses from their FB accounts? Or, just ask - say you want to send them a little something.

You could send thank you notes to the teachers using your school's address.

And really, 1 rec is enough, but we say "get two" as insurance. If one doesn't get there (writer forgot, or misplaced materials, or waited to long), then the other will be there.
