Amazing! Both the amount of money and the amount of time! (Our dance marathon is typically only 24 hours, which is crazy enough!)
What a fabulous job! Congratulations to everyone involved!

That's a huge amount of money! Amazing what people can do with hard work and a good cause.
What exactly did y'all do to raise this kind of money? I think the rest of us could learn a lot.

I was there!! I was on Rules and Regs and I was on duty for 17 hrs and I spent at least 5-10 more in the stands. Dance Marathon is soo very awesome and its worth seeing the happy faces of the kids and the parents. I was super tired today (I was there for the last 5 hours, were you Jennifer?) and I slept from 9 pm Sunday til 1:30 pm today but its so worth it. For more info, go to http://www.thon.org/
I can't wait til next year!

i only got like 10 hours of sleep the whole weekend. my roommate was a dancer and so were many of my friends. i was on the floor and in the stands as much as possible. as for how we do it, we go canning 4 times a year, solicit from friends and family and corporate donations/sponsorships. we didn't raise much as last year but the four years i've been here we've raised a little more than 14 million dollars. THON is the largest student run philanthropy in the country. and its soooooooooooo much fun!!!!!

Actually, it did get decent news coverage. I didn't see the print edition, but it's the featured picture and story on the Post Gazette website: Link to article

Actually, the Penn State IFC started it as a way to re-build the image of fraternities; Tri-Delt and KDR started the concept of power fund-raising (raising $1,633 out of the $10,000 total that year).
Nice history here
Congratulations to all who participated - PSUSigKap and BlueGBI.
I was thinking about you guys this weekend - I heard Kool & the Gang's "Celebration", which was the theme song one of the years I was involved (which really dates me), and was so hoping that you guys would raise a lot of money. You do Penn State proud. I'm really disappointed at the amount of press this gets - I think $3.5 million deserves a little more network/CNN/MSNBC coverage, but that's the downside to being 3 1/2 hours from anywhere, I guess....
BTW, who topped the fund raising?
