Sticky for Choosing a Name?

Would it make sense to have in this group (Because "Before You Found a New Sorority" is here) a sticky thread on "Choosing a name for your GLO?" Points might be (expanded to full points):

Positive: Look it up in Baird's Manual, google it, check the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Negative: Don't use a name of a major fraternity or sorority in a well known movie/TV such as Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds, School Daze or Greek. Having the same name as one of the *minor* background fraternities in one of these groups isn't a problem.

Don't have the greek letters be equivalent to roman letters that spell out a word(Beta Alpha Tau, or worse, Tau Iota Tau).

Any more ideas about whether we should make it a sticky or added entries in this list?

Now a bunch of otherwise normal adults are standing behind me thinking of offensive GLO names could be created by using certain Greek letters.

One of the locals that became a sorority at Clemson in the 70s-don't remember which one off the top of my head-was actually called Tri-Chi for a while. I guess the letters XXX didn't mean the same thing then as they do now?

I'm pretty sure that it meant the same thing in the 70s.

I have no question about that!

There we go! I knew I had read it somewhere, thanks. Well I guess I've reverse-dated myself by not knowing when the common meaning of XXX was around, but then again there's a lot I don't know about that's before my time.

I have found two different groups that use the letters XXX. One of which is a Christian group and calls themselves Tri-Chi. The other is at UC Santa Cruz. I think it's kinda of weird, especially the Christian group. But oh we'll no one asked me.

Yet another example...

I am currently going through Wikipedia adding something to each article which is a redirect from greek letters to the greek letters spelled out. For example the article ΑΔΓ is a redirect to the article Alpha Delta Gamma. I've got a list of potentials, but one was particularly interesting...

Delta Sigma Epsilon Sorority was member of the AES and then after the merger was part of the NPC. It then in 1956 absorbed by Delta Zeta...

However the greek letters ΔΣΕ do not lead to that of the Sorority. Instead, it redirects to the Democratic Army of Greece, which in greek is Δημοκρατικός Στρατός Ελλάδας. The Democratic Army of Greece was the fighting force of the Communists in the Greek Civil War.

So an additional place to check is to see if the letters are a word or a standard abbreviation in modern Greek.
