I'm trying to decide what to suggest for the book of the month for July.... any suggestions?

sunshine, I read that book for class this year! (grad school)

Do you prefer his dialect poetry or his standard poetry?

I'm not reading ANYTHING right now, and I'm ashamed.

I was reading "The Talented Tenth" by Bro. Skip Mason, and it is good. I like non-fiction/history books sometimes.

I was reading parts of "Fast Talk/Full Volume" by Gut Punch Press. It's not the best, but it's a decent volume of poetry.

I keep trying to start "Lion's Blood" by Steven Barnes. It is a science fiction novel that answers the question "What if Africans colonized America and enslaved whites?"

I like both his dialect and standard style of poetry. The dialect I kinda laugh at sometimes b/c I have to kinda read it softly to myself to understand some of what he's trying to say. I've gotten the messages, and I thought that those types of poems were kinda cute; truly priceless. The dialect poetry always reminded me of someone from the deep South, like my late grandfather, who was born in St. Petersburg, FL and kept his accent (miss u Grandpa )

I've read 2 of Zane's books.

I decided that I would read 10 books by the time I return to work. I've read 2 so far. I need 7 more books. Tomorrow, I'm beginning "Hand Me Down Heartache" by Soror Tajuana Butler. It's only been in my possession since last July when I purchased it at Boule.

Anyone would need MORE than a shower after reading that. OH MY STARS!

I read: "Addicted" and "The SC". I don't know if I can handle The Sisters of APF! LAWD!

Addicted was good. I wonder if "The Heat Seekers" is raw and raunchy?

lmao@myself!

ETA: I'm thinking (thinking) about getting Hilary R. Clinton's book. Is anyone else interested? Wal-mart has it discounted (hardback). I need 7 more books to read. A sista could get desperate.

The Sisters of APF and The Heat Seekers aren't as bad as The Sex Chronicles, IMO.

I have read all but The Sisters of APF. Heat Seekers is tame as hell compared to The Sex Chronicles #1 and #2.

After I read Sex Chronicles #1, I needed a shower, a cigarette, and a man.

I am interested but not right now. I got Tajuana's newest one, The Night Before 30. . . peep DST's book thread for summary and what not.

Those sisters were off the hook in Atlantic City.

LMAO, yeah I know but The Heat Seekers is more about relationships. Whereas Sex Chronicles was well about sex. LOL, SEX & THE CITY (not that I have ever seen it) has nothing on The Sex Chroniceles.

Definitely getting it. I'm going to read it on my plane ride. Thanks for letting me know Wal-Mart has it on sale!
