bid card
Hello, I received a bid card, without going through formal rush. I am not familiar with the rush process. If I let the fraternity know that I would like to join, what is the next step? Do I have to do all the rush stuff, or am I automatically in? Thanks for the help.

Um, why not ask them what it means?

You need to ask them what the next steps would be.
How did you get a bid without going through rush?

Pardon the lane swerve, but doesn't going to some of the fraternity's get-togethers around this time pretty much equal rush? Try talking to them. You're an adult now.

He said that he never participated in formal rush. Hanging out with brothers =/= going to a rush event, at least not always. A couple of our more active brothers when I was a UG we grabbed by being friends of brothers and hanging out with us.

You. Need. To. Ask. Them. What. The. Next. Steps. Are.
WE are not THEM. We can't tell you what needs to be done.

Definitely do ask them about the next steps. It varies between organizations.
Generally speaking, a bid card is a formal invitation to join. However, you have to accept the bid before you join.
Also, for most (but not all) fraternities, there is a pledging period following acceptance of the bid, where you are a member but not a brother.
This all differs between organizations, so you should ask, ask, ask!!!
