I've been a bit blah on reading lately. I used to work at a library and always had something in my hands. It also helps when you work with fellow readers and get recommendations or patrons rave about something so you try it. Tried reading "Shopaholic to the Rescue" but I think Kinsella may need to retire that series. I only got five chapters in and returned it to the library. I'm usually pretty dogged when it comes to finishing a book. It seems like many of my go-to authors are turning out stinkers lately. :'( However, I go through phases on what I read... true crime, military bios, romance, thriller, suspense, chick lit, inspirational lit, paranormal, etc. I'm pretty open to any genre but horror. Can't handle gore.
Tom, your library card must be on fire. LOL

No, I have a Friend who sends me boxes of books and I have a bunch and read maybe one a week or less.
When I finish them I re box, either pass on to someone who reads like I do, tell them they must pass them along, or take them to local library to sell in book sale and make them some money!!!!
BTW, Sue Grafton Mysteries are easy to read and "gripping" as My Mom used to say!!! Thanks to her, reading was a passion of mine as a kid and had a library card before I went to kindegarten!
Should have a new read for tomarrow!

I just finished A Touch of Stardust, by Kate Alcott
It takes place in and around the filming of Gone With the Wind, so if you liked the movie, it's a must read

I'm reading Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I thought Gone Girl was freaky, but this is really disturbing. More disturbing than The Lovely Bones, which was one of the most disturbing books I'd read before. If it wasn't our book club book this month, I wouldn't finish it. It's bothering me that much.

There are some books I can't bring myself to read. I used to work in a library and you see tons of items come across the desk and get recs from patrons and co-workers alike. Saw the "Gone Girl" movie. Never wanted to read it since if I read something I need AT LEAST one likable character. Don't know if all of Flynn's books are so miserable. I love mystery, suspense, thriller, etc, but there has to be someone I'm cheering for and some sort of satisfying ending. I don't read so I can be more miserable. I'll watch the news for that. Patrons have also told me that "Casual Vacancy" by JK Rowling has no likable characters so I've avoided it too. They've said the only somewhat likable person dies off early. LOL

"The Blind Side"
I saw the movie first and, if the book is accurate, I'm impressed by the accuracy of the movie.

I hated Gone Girl - not sure I would read another Flynn novel after that.
