Jen Lancaster -- "Pretty In Plaid"

I was in Borders the other day and idly picked this book up. I'd read Bitter is the New Black and really enjoyed it, and was especially intrigued to see that Lancaster would be discussing her rush and sorority experiences.

I didn't get to read the whole thing, but it looked pretty interesting as she talks about going to into Rush without knowing anything, getting dropped from the "top" chapters, pledging a chapter she felt "above" and then transferring and pledging a different organization at a different school.

As usual with Lancaster, she revels in her meanness, but also seems to appreciate how wrong she was (she seems a bit remorseful about the way she acted toward that first chapter she pledged, which she doesn't name).

I was wondering who else had read the book and what your thoughts on her depiction of Greek Life were. I thought, although not always flattering, her portrayal was fairly accurate.

I believe she originally pledged Alpha Delta Pi and then pledged Pi Beta Phi. I read Bitter but haven't read anything else by her yet.

She did pledge ADPi first--I'm pretty sure she mentions something about the ADPis in one of the books. I've read Bitter and Bright Lights. Both were hilarious--I love her footnotes.

I can't wait to read Such a Pretty Fat & Pretty in Plaid!

All of her books are awesome! I've also been to 2 of her book signings and she is even funnier in person! Go hear her speak if you get the chance! Her experiences are very heartfelt and honest. She doesn't sugarcoat anything. But there isn't anything horrible in her book.

I've read Bitter and Such a Pretty Fat. Can't wait to read the other two, her books are great. As someone who is sarcastic, it's hilarious to read a book where the author doesn't sugarcoat her true thoughts.

I think she is a really good writer with a slick, sarcastic wit that I totally relate to. I read "Bitter is the New Black" while on a vacation in Mexico and I was laughing so hard, people kept stopping by my beach chair because they thought I was hysterically crying. There is nothing she discusses in any of her books with respect to her sorority experience that hasn't been shared in graphic details on these boards.
