does anyone happen to know (who has been a part of a rush at uk) know approx. how many people are in each gamma chi group or about how many PNM get accepted? We just figured out that there are at least 55 gamma chi groups participating and we want to try and see how many people might be there...

As best as I remember, there were about 10 girls starting out in my Gamma Chi group (we called them 'Rho Chis' then). Two ended up dropping out of recruitment, and the rest of us pledged.

I wish I could tell you one way or the other, but I don't know. I was never a Rho Chi/Gamma Chi. Not every single PNM who goes through will pledge, but I wouldn't say it's scary/cutthroat/brutal at UK, either. The ones I knew personally who dropped out of rush did so mostly because they had their hearts set on one specific chapter and didn't want to give the others a chance, or just decided in the middle of things that they didn't want to be in a sorority.

I also remember there being 10-12 girls per group. One girl from my group was cut after the first round of open house. A few others dropped out of recruitment after pref. Only 6 from my group accepted bids.
Again, this is just my personal experience from over 5 years ago! I'll be around Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday helping out with recruitment & Thursday for bid-matching.
Good luck & HAVE FUN!

Past Recruitment Statistics
Some of your questions might be answered if you look at these statistics:
http://www.uky.edu/StudentAffairs/Greek/stats.htm
http://www.uky.edu/StudentAffairs/Greek/general.htm
If you poke around a bit, you'll find all kinds of historical information on the UK site.
Good luck! I'm rooting for you to find your home!
Edited to add another page of statistics

I would agree with this statement however, if you dont have good grades coming into recruitment (as in usually higher than the minimum required GPA) you can be expected to be cut heavily at UK and with some chapters more than others.

Yes, I forgot about that. In general, chapters don't really like to take grade risks, so if the grades aren't there, expect heavy cuts on the first day especially.
