Wow! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all your replies. I am doing some research to develop a marketing plan for the Greek community at my alma mater, and I am going to research each one of the schools listed thus far. Up until now, I was only aware of one other school with a local system--Trinity University in San Antonio. I had no idea I was in such great company! I'm going to keep checking this thread for updates, so if anyone has more schools to add, please do so!

On the fraternity side, Sewanee is mostly national (10 vs. 2 locals).

Also, Harding University in Arkansas has local Greek-letter something-or-others that they don't like to refer to as fraternities and sororities but function exactly the same.

Hope College is a Christian college in Michigan that has 16 Greek Organizations (8 fraternities, 8 sororities), two of which are national (one IFC and one NPHC) and the other 14 organizations are local.

And Trinity in Texas --- those are long-standing locals. (Ah, I see that is already on the list!)

Hamilton (NY) -- which is an interesting case study in and of itself .....

Ursinus College in PA has mostly local GLOs: Of the 5 sororities on campus, 4 are local (Tri Sigma being the exception). Of the 7 fraternities on campus, 5 are local (excepting Phi Kappa Sigma and Sigma Pi).

Just to clarify there are 6 sororities that are recognized, 5 of which are local and 1 being National. There is 1 local sorority which is currently not recognized but that does not mean that they may not come back in the near future.

Your fraternity numbers are correct, however there are 2 locals that are currently not active on campus, but have an active alumni presence.

Note: All locals with the exception of one sorority have been on the campus for over 30 years, with the majority of all the existing organizations ranging from between 60-100 years.

Thanks for including UC, Dukemama!!

SUNY schools have many locals. And many of them have existed since the mid 1800s. I know Alpha Delta and Alpha Kappa Phi have been around for a while.

So SUNY Potsdam has one national (AST) and the others are all local: Sigma Gamma Phi, Zeta Gamma Sigma, Delta Lambda Nu, etc.
