Its officially over! We graduated! All six of the study group got our JDs and all with strong results!
All of us have job offers in the bag and the break up of the class has begun.
Our last gourmet dinner was really outstanding but a bit sad as we will not likely reassemble for another group dinner. This time we hired one of the J&W culinary grads to cater the meal and he and his helpers were worth every penny of the extra expense (which was considerable, but what the hell, it was the finale!)
Menu follows:
Beluga caviare on buttered toast points with Mercier Reserve de l'Empereur '97
Cream of Onion, artichoke, and scallop soup with Fino Sherry.
Smoked Mousse of Trout followed by Oyster Vol-a-Vents both accompanied by Pavillion Blanc de Ch. Margaux '01.
Roast loin of Vennison with braised root veg, grilled asparagus, and red new potatoes and Bearnaise sauce with Ch. laLagune '91.
Merangue shells filled with melon sorbet topped with fresh raspberries and cream. Veuve Cliquot demi Sec NV.
Cheese board with Stilton, Ste Andre, and Dbl Gouucester with Fonseca 1967.
Then to finish off, Cafe Brulot and a final toast of Veuve Cliquot la Grande Dame '00
Then Tears and Cheers and Goodbye Mr. Chips...

Dinner with Dad last night. Rib eye steak on the grill, corn on the cob, grilled veg, caesar salad, mango flan. Boddington's Bitter, chicory coffee, and then bourbon old fashioneds while he explained his offer for me to get qualified to practice in the UK and the EU while learning the ropes of his international law work and then taking over most his practice as he begins to ease up his schedule leading to semi-retirement in about four years. I'd be paid as an associate for the US work and able to earn fees as a barrister for the UK work. Barristers must practice as independents but pool together to share overheads in "setts" or groups of independents working from shared chambers. Lots of quick decisions to make.
Bar exam in July and maybe over to the UK in August or September.
Dinner tonight will be seafood soup, catfish fillets, german potato salad and more New Orleans coffee.
