Red face OLD kappa key on ebay

Hello Greek sisters...

Maharet here form Alpha Phi...

There is a very pretty Kappa key on ebay right now. Seller estimates age at 1890's - 1900 with emeralds and the KKG is engraved rather than bold and raised...

Here is the item number 7721535600

Good luck - I hope it gets back to a Kappa...

According to the seller, this is from the 1890-1900s. At that time, there were no specific Fraternity badge standards in place (other than it must be 1" long and have the KKG and AWO) so members usually had family or local jewelers make their golden keys to their personal desires. The old badges are so unique and just beautiful!

Yes...I am the fortunate owner of an original lazy Phi pin and prior to 1906 any Alpha Phi sister could design her own pin - many with the lazy phi, but jewels/no jewels of her choice...Sounds like Kappa keys are the same way...

I truly hope this gets back to a Kappa and has a new life...I wear my original pin all the time and LOVE it. Pins should be worn and shared and enjoyed and not sit in a jewelry box or display case...But that's just me!!!

Good luck - I have the key bookmarked so I can watch it...

The same thing with Alpha Delta Pi pins! I've seen them about 4" big (think of a barrette!), and with amazing stones! Some of them have our open motto on them, too - prior to 1904, there was no consistancy. Gorgeous!!!
