Recommendations...again

I'm sure these questions have been asked a billion times but I can't seem to wrap my head around it!! Recommendations are still a little hazy to me so I was wondering if someone could clear it up for me.
I will be participating in formal rush in Spring 2011

1) I should aim for about 2 recs per Sorority or is one sufficient? I go to a small school were recs aren't necessary but are encouraged.

2)When should I contact these women to ask for a rec?

3) My initial contact will be by e-mail to ask them and then to set up a meeting. Can someone post a sample letter (I don't want to just say "hey, can you write me a rec" lol)

4) When i meet with these women i should bring with me my resume, a picture of myself to attach (should this be the same picture that I will attach to my registration form?), a stamped and addressed envelope to put the rec in, and a copy of the rec form printed from the National website of the sorority. Is that correct and am I missing anything?

5)Where will i find the address to send the recs to ?Will I find the address to put on the envelopes on the local website of the sorority?

6) I am also confused about this: when these women (hopefully) send the recs to the addresses I write on the envelope, who will get them and will they be read right away? I do not want my rec to be lonely (the first one there by a long time) but I of course do not want it to be the last one there!

Sorry about all the questions!!

Just to address 4, 5 and um.. 5.

Yes you should use the same picture. No you don't need to bring the rec form or an envelope.

The sorority alumnae will handle the printing and filling out of the rec form or the electronic submission of the form. Providing an envelope can be nice, but addressing it isn't necessary. You won't always know who or where the recs actually go.

And each chapter handles recs differently some may collect them and not go through them until later, others may download/make notes/go through them immediately.

Oh, I just had to wrap my head around the fact that Spring 2011 = next semester. Holy flying yipes.

That being said, the answer to #2 is that it's not too early to start now.
