Okay, someone's in trouble for selling ritual dresses.

Really good advice here. One of my friends didn't think about the logistics of using the restroom when she chose her dress. It was a big ball gown type with a longer train. She needed her entire bridal party to help her go to the potty all night (it weighed a ton and had to be held up, she couldn't fit into the stalls, etc).

I think I like the second one best, because I think you look gorgeous in both but that you'll be able to move about freely, sit and stand, and feel more relaxed in the second. But, check them out thoroughly that way. Can you lean over without the world looking down your bodice? (and not because of sizing, but because of style) REALLY try them on.

Ooo, really good points.
You mentioned you were imagining how the first dress will look bustled and with your veil, etc., and I'm sure it will be stunning! But also try to imagine getting into and out of the car on the way to and from the reception, sitting in a chair, maneuvering between the tables and around the dance floor, and the bathroom thing is KEY!!!! Too often that gets forgotten until it's too late and then you're facing a situation like KSUViolet described.
It almost makes you realize why some people buy 2 dresses, doesn't it? You could have the first one for the dramatic effect at the wedding and for pictures, then have the other one for the reception for comfort and ease of wear (while still being gorgeous). That second one does look like it would be comfortable to wear for a long period of time.

For what, the circus? I'm sorry, that thing is a monstrosity of ruffles and tulle and any grown woman wearing it should have clown make-up on. Not trying to be mean, but maybe its a west coast thing because you don't see that here except on little toddler girl dresses, quince gowns and with that many ruffles, clown suits.
But hey, if ya like it, ya like it.

I tried sitting down in the 2Be dress (dress #1) and that was fine. I think bathroom time may be a slight challenge but nothing one bridesmaid or my mom couldn't handle. It's a pick up skirt so I'd just pick it up higher! Dress #2 was fine as far as comfort goes but bordering on TOO plain for me (and you can tell by my dress choices that I like simplicity). There's something dramatic about the first dress that I really like but the Maggie dress with the brooch fits me really well. Do you think the people at the store will let me try going to the bathroom in a sample dress...? I did try bending over to grab something in the 2Be dress and it was a little difficult as there was some slight boning in the bodice/bra I was wearing. I don't anticipate feeling like I'm in sweats anyway and I don't plan on wearing heals as J is only 2 inches taller than me (he's 5'7") so my tootsies will definitely be comfortable. So I've thought of some of these things but not all, and my mom mentioned them while we were trying them on but definitely all good suggestions! Thank you!!!
As far as my FILs, I really lucked out - they are super laid back and nice and have been very welcoming. So I definitely want them to be as involved as possible and I'm sure they will be when they have to start plunking down the plastic...

Both of the dresses are nice but I think #1 is the best. Congrats on your engagement!

When I was buying my dress at the boutique, the owner had me sit on a couple different chairs she had, bend over, etc. This was to see how both the dress fit on me in different positions, but also so I would know how the dress moves.
I will say sitting shouldn't be a problem, but the bathroom might be even after I have my train bustled.

I'm noticing a trend - you like the shorter dresses, don't you? They are super cute btw They just look fun! PLUS, you get to wear shoes people can actually see! And thanks for the input on my dresses above.
