History: APO & Social Fraternity Councils

I was working my way through the Torch and Trefoils when I found the following...

A section was added to Article XVI of the National Constitution as follows
"Chapters of Alpha Phi Omega shall not seek nor accept membership in any association consisting entirely of social fraternities".

This was added at the 1958 convention in Austin Texas...

Unfortunately, sometimes chapters are forced to be on a social fraternity council (and pay the requisite dues) by exceptionally stupid administrations who don't understand what APO is and don't care. They see "fraternity" and think they're all the same. When it's do this or leave campus, they really have no choice.

Agreed. Any suggestions that don't involve violence would be appreciated. Any that *do* involve violence would also be appreciated, but are less likely to be used. )
