This is unofficial, but I believe that quota was 84. I do not know numbers for each group yet.

Quota was actually 83 (got that from someone in the Panhellenic Office).
AOII got quota plus for 90 fabulous new members! The chapter and new members are very happy! Everyone looked gorgeous and excited! Will post pics later.
From what I know right now, 3 of my rec girls went AOII! Will have to wait to hear where the rest of them pledged.
I heard there was a placement rate of 98%! I think all the sororities did really well!

Note from an Ole Miss newbie: The Lyceum was a cool place to have the bid opening. I thought it was totally off the cute meter the way the Gamma Chi's revealed their letters to the PNMs. However, the way the Gamma Chi's seemed to be throwing the bids at the PNMs bothered me ... and it looked rather ungracious. When I pledged, and when my daughters pledged, we had either an auditorium or a stadium where the Rho Chi's had placed each bid. We had to sit on them until time when we all opened them at once. And rather than just expect all the girls to run to their new houses all alone, I will admit I liked the way at Alabama that there were sisters, with large styrofoam letters, to round up their newbies and take them en masse to the house.
I say this because, as I was walking to the KD house to visit with my rec and her parents, I encountered several young ladies making their way to either Sorority Row or Rebel Drive totally alone. I struck up a conversation with each who stopped running and panted near me. I wanted to try to help to make that journey more memorable by offering a word of congratulations.
I've uploaded a video to youtube from today ... it's still processing. Will post the link as soon as it's valid.
You might also watch my video of my older daugher carrying a letter to guide my younger daughter to the house where they would be sisters yet again. I totally thought that was cool that Leah led Becca to the Tri Delt house.

I will agree it is a chaotic experience. However, it has been done this way for as long as I know. I remember on my bid day seeing girls waiting to see where their friends pledged and others (like myself) who ran alone. This year I know most houses didn't get their bid day lists until a few minutes before the new members came running to their houses. Overall, I think the process works well for Ole Miss.

As you know, I'm not saying it doesn't work well. I think they did get their bid day lists sooner than you may think. I made the mistake of thinking the KD house was on Rebel Drive rather than Sorority Row. The AOII's (and pretty much everyone) had a sister with a personalized poster and a gift for each new member.
Now don't you get mad at me ... I'm here now! Let's figure out together how to improve a really great party!

I think OleMissGlitter is an adviser on campus, so she probably knows exactly when they got their bid lists.
And I'd be wary at an institution as tradition driven as Ole Miss of jumping in and telling them how they could do things better, according to you.

I understand what Loyally Kappa means...but like UGAalum94 says it might take like an act of God to change how they distribute bids
I'm actually a "National Advisor" (Collegiate Network Specialist) for AOII....I know AOII didn't get their lists until 2:50pm because I was at the house when Panhellenic dropped it off. I think most of the houses got them a few minutes before...I think Panhellenic has found giving them a few minutes before is better than a few hours before....less phone calls and ruining the surprise for the new members!
But overall it was a great day! Oh and I forget to mention the weather was perfect! NO RAIN

I think I came off as snippier than I intended. I think it's pretty close to a universal rule that people new to a greek system should probably spend some time observing how it does work before they want to work on changing stuff.
I agree that tossing out bids doesn't seem as elegant as other methods and I see no reasons for girls to run alone. But generally speaking, I think it's great for Bama to be Bama and Ole Miss to be Ole Miss.

Ouch!
Never meant to presume that I knew it all.
And, it's quite possible that the glue for the glitter and the paint on the posters were still wet when I saw them.
It was just a different experience. When I arrived on campus at 1:45, some of the houses were still raising their bid day signs. After my daughters' recruitment at Alabama, where the crowds were nearly football-game-day-size more than an hour before bid opening, I was merely noticing and remarking on how things were different.
