Depledge and Rerushing

I'm a rising sophomore and during my spring semester I pledged a fraternity but dropped 2 weeks before initiation since I was no longer able to meet the financial requirements to pay dues. I originally planned to get a job and make enough to pay dues and then repledge the fraternity I dropped. However would it be a good idea to rerush considering the fraternity I pledged was also the only fraternity I had rushed in the spring? I just want to make sure I made the right decision and not regret having not visited more chapters.

When you dropped last spring, did you tell the brothers "nothing personal, just gotta get my financial house in order, once that happens I plan to initiate"?

If so, you should stick to that commitment. No, you are not technically bound - but giving your word and then going back on it is shady and not nice.

If you didn't give them any reassurance, I guess you could rerush, but be aware you may be looked at as "damaged goods" and other chapters won't be interested in you.

What 33girl said.

And be aware that people from your school may read GC, even if they don't post. I'm assuming your username is a reference to your school, so there's already a possibility people know you're asking the question. Discretion is your friend.
