I never knew that about KD and ZTA being apart from the other groups at ASU. That is very helpful knowledge to have! Thanks so much for sharing lanesig, and for the new information irishpipes. ASU (and Jonesboro) seems to be growing, and I look forward to seeing more exciting things at ASU!

Where would they build? Tempe does not have that much open land. I don't think I've seen any open land around the ASU campus except out by the river where the cheap parking is located.

They're talking about Arkansas State, not Arizona State. I'm an Arizona State alum, so trust me...I was thinking that too!

Ok. I get confused with all the colleges with the same initials.

I hope it's an actual plan. I would like to see Greek Life grow at ASU (Arkansas State - not Arizona State, Applachian State, Armstrong Atlantic State, etc. ) and get stronger.

SK kept it—Pi Kapp was leasing. Question because I know you lived there: how many people could that house sleep, even with renovations? Last I heard there were about 1600 ladies registered....

The house was built for 64 (16 4-person rooms). When AGD recolonized we converted a maid's room and a storage closet (what we called the formal closet....e.g. formal dresses) to add 4 more -- say, 68. Other alterations might have been done on the lower level where there were two study rooms Those could have been converted to sleeping rooms if bathroom improvements were made. (There was a powder room on that level, but no showers.)
[In composing this post I just did a mental walk-through of the entire house. I can clearly remember all of it, at least as it was until the summer of 1974.]

Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo has revoked the campus recognition of Sigma Phi Epsilon. The school has made a request to Sig Ep's National HQ to revoke the charter.

From this artcle re: the size of recruitment at Arkansas:
"University of Arkansas administrators are actively involved in attracting more sororities to campus to reduce the size of the chapters and to improve the sorority experience for all involved. To accomplish this, representatives from the National Panhellenic Council, the national governing body for sororities, will be visiting the University of Arkansas campus in September to meet with administrators, at which time a proposal and selection process will start. As part of the council's visit to campus, its representatives will explore future potential housing options for new sororities with administrators.
"We intend to bring two new sororities to the University of Arkansas campus by 2013," said Ashley Tull, senior associate dean of students at the University of Arkansas. "We hope to work closely with the NPC to show that the University of Arkansas will have a viable Greek system for years to come and that new sororities will thrive at the University of Arkansas."

I'm sorry, but this is just pipe dreams. They can't "bring" sororities to the campus if the sororities don't want to come there. NPC can't force a sorority to charter at a campus it does not want to be on. It almost sounds like they're going to pay them off (above and beyond the normal help on housing, etc) to come in, and I can just imagine how well THAT would go over.
Is this associate dean Greek? Does she really understand how expansion works?

Yeah I'm with you. I was wondering what can NPC do other than encouraging groups to colonize? NPC can't force any group to colonize.

Ashley is a guy I am not sure if he is Greek, but graduated from Southern Miss in 1994 according to his open Facebook page.

I forgot we were in the South, LOL. Well, that's the other version of the question...having that penis and all, does he really understand how NPC expansion works?
