Question Alumnae Initiation for Men?

I told my boyfriend all about my pursuit of alum initiation, and he wondered aloud if Fraternities also have alum initiation programs. He was a non-traditional student, as he took several years off between high school and college to serve in the armed forces (including the Gulf War). When he attended college, he assumed he was "too old" for fraternity membership.

So, is it too late for him to go Greek, or can he pursue alum initiation along with me?

Hi M&M

Hi M&M and welcome to Greek Chat!

I do believe it is possible. Like sororities, fraternities allow alumni initiations on a case-by-case basis with certain standards according to their bylaws.

The very first time I learned about alumni initiation at all was when my husband was showing me his KA Order gruop photo. He had one of his professors in his pledge class, and he ultimately became a faculty/alumni advisor to that chapter.

Good luck!

Adrienne

Some of Pi Kappa Phi's most important leaders were alumni initiates. I know that one of the past National Presidents was an alumni initiate and the founder of Push America, is an alumni initiate

I know Lambda Chi ALpha did alum initiation back when they colonized the chapter where I went to undergrad, and I recently met a guy who's dad was alum initiated into Beta Theta Pi. Not sure what the requirements are for either, though.

LXA does Special Initiations for people who show a strong willingness to work with a local Chapter or if it in teh case of BN Chapter of FL. Tech. who was one of the Original Founders of the Local.

One of my best friends thought he could just walk up and say he wanted to be a member. I told him, it just doesnt happen that way.

I know that many of the NHPC Mens Orgs Alum Initiate as on many campuses they dont have enough men who are there or do not want to join or there is not an Org at that school! This is a great way for them to get new blood to work within their Fraternity. Trying to help a new young Rep calling on me to get set up that way and I hope he decides to go for it and make it!

Have a look here, too:

Remember, with women, it's Alumnae Initiation, and with men, it's Alumni Initiation!

Hope that this helps you find what you are looking for!!
