Ok guys!!!! I guess I have to break it down play by play. It seems like everyone is a bit lost here. I'm not trying to impose my taboos on anyone. What I'm trying to do is see what's considered taboo from place to place. Let's share what is taboo from region to region, or just nationally.

For the more mature Greeks (I really mean older), "national or regional" songs such as Atomic Dog, Candy, Set it Off, Got to Be Real... Of course they are just unofficial, but are revered.

Also by not touching another Greek's Pari', I mean things like jackets, canes, boots, staffs, certain articles of clothing, and teekies.

Frankly, I take DSTChaos' posts with a grain of salt, given that most of her posts tend to have a very smart-alecky slant to it that detracts from her message she tries to convey.

So to answer your question, no.

Marquise, while I understand and appreciate what you are trying to get across, because of the sensitive nature of this topic and the fact that there are non-NPHCers who read and post this board, you have essentially asked an extremely loaded question.

You're playing with nitro-glycerin here. Handle with care.

Responding to the topic at hand:
1) hand/arm signs are a relatively recent phenomenum and unofficial. So any rules applied to them are also unofficial. But I understand the intent of not dissing another orgs sign.

2) Not touching nalia? So if I have on a DST shirt I can't hug somebody?

Marquise says: I would like to believe you have more common sense then that... I can't tell if you pretend to be that ignorant or if you are.

3)What do you mean by national/ regional songs? Our offical songs are not to be done at a party anyway.

Marquise says: Explained it. But really would your hymn every be played at a college party? And why in the hell would someone stroll to a hymn, especially one belonging to another organization???

4) But it is okay to argue with them or point out their fallacies on a public message board?

Marquise says: LG if this was law you would have been locked up by now.

5) I am a DST. Nothing wrong with that.

Marquise says: Just like the Sigma Lady pointed out earlier, it is improper to address someone by a nickname if you are not familiar with them. But I guess different strokes for different folks.

6) Any don't do steps for the sororities?

Marquise says: Sorry!!! Only Duck Walk if you're a Delta, Ivy Walk or put up the mirror only if you're an AKA, Sigma Shake if you're an SGRho (a cute knock off of the Kappa Shimmy), and only Dove Clap if your a Zeta.

7) I do agree that only my sorors should call me that.

8) I wear a pinky ring and an ankle bracelet all the time and somtimes I even put on a necklace, a pin, or a t-shirt. And at a chapter retreat we are naliaed down. What is more important is wearing 'nalia in good taste.

Marquise says: Again this is a regional thing. In the south (especially FL) wearing more than one piece of pari will get you questioned or ridiculed.
Folrida???

What I'm addressing is the fact that some people rather be smart @$$es than to answer a question correctly.

It reminds me of when I was volunteering at a home for "special" people. I wondered why the staff only talked in the break room. As I found out later, when the volunteers tried to talk in the rec room, the "special" people automatically started talking gibberish in a high tone of voice as if they were conversing with us. Although the conversation we were having was intellectual. You couldn't get a clear word through because of the loud ranting of the patients.

This and many other threads gives me flash backs!!!

I have no 'Greek' taboos per se, just home training and common sense.

1) Don't act a fool in public, esp with your letters on.
2) Don't break 'hood, even in private.
3) All org business stays in house except when legally required to disclose.
4) Honor your principles.

Now all this other stuff about hand signs and 'nalia and strolls
