Sorority Formal Recuritment
At my campus the sororities do recuritment as in a Rho Gam shows the girls all the different houses and talks about them, but the Rho Gam can't be affiliated with her sorority she's in to maintain disinterest. So the girls can't actually know which sorority the only girl that they have really gotten to know is in...to me that seems odd, because a fratenity or a sorority is only as good as the people that are in it. So my question is how do girls choose which sorority durring formal rush?

The reason for this is because each PNM (rushee) only gets to know 1 or 2 Rho Gams during recruitment. This would give them a biased view.
At least in theory, this allows every sorority to be presented on equal terms. I chose based on the girls I met at each chapter, how I felt I fit in. It isn't a perfect system, but it seems to be the only way prevent (as much as possible) bid promising, gift giving and all around catty-ness that girls in particular can wrapped up in.

So do the girls actually get to meet a large number of girls from each chapter?

Yes - that is what the rush parties are for.

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. It depend on each other chapters and how they rotate around during the event and stuff. There are plenty of opportunities for the girls to get to know other girls. There's class and info tables.

Yes... depending on how the chapter does it.
I met probably 3 girls at each chapter my first night. Same the second and probably more like 2 on the third. Pref you really only stay with one girl, though others may come up and say hi. I actually met fewer girls at SK overall for various reasons, but i had the best time with them.

Well at my school they don't have "rush parties" but they do have like things where they show each girl the house and stuff...from what I hear there's four things that girls can't talk about the four 'Bs' boys, bucks, bible, and beauty so I don't exactly know what happens...however I would like to know what goes into the girl's decision making process.

How about instead of us regurgitating the Recruitment section of the Green Book to you, you go on over to the "Recruitment Stories" and read a few threads. It will give you a pretty good idea of how a basic rush process works.

They do have rush parties -- they have Formal Recruitment the week before school starts in August. Each PNM gets to visit the 13 NPC chapters on campus (I don't think the two non NPC chapters participate in formal recruitment) the first day. The followings days are narrowed down via mutual selection by the chapters and the PNMs -- 9 the second day, 4 the third day and 2 preference night (I think that's the number of parties per day). Each day the PNMs get to talk to 2-3 different women from each chapter. You can get a pretty good feel for the chapter the first or second day.
Rho Gammas are supposed to be an unbiased guide for the women during recruitment week.
ETA: The four Bs at my chapter were: boys, banks, bible and beer.

greeksupporter:
rho gammas are sorority women who have been selected via application and interview, and who have had training. they are made to disaffiliate from their own sorority and they represent panhellenic and all of the sororities for a specified time. they escort an assigned group of potential new members to each house for the first round of parties. they meet with their rush group at the end of each day, answer any questions, have the girls fill out their lists of which sororities they would like to visit the next day. usually after the first set of parties, if it is an invitational round, the group would meet with their rho gamma somewhere on campus, get their party invitations and each girl would get her own party schedule, and each girl would go on her own to her parties. the rho gammas also contact girls ahead of time who did not receive any invitations, discuss their options and sort of counsel them if need be.
ordinarily, the rho gammas escort their groups to the houses, but they do not go in with their groups. at that point, the members of that sorority take over and serve as hostesses for the party. often, the sorority members are not allowed out of the house, but wait as each potential new member enters, singing songs or yelling sorority cheers, until everyone is inside. at the end of the party, each hostess escorts her guest to(but not out of)the door , the rho gamma collects her group of girls, and they head off to the next house, while the house they just visited gets ready for the next group.

You're right that the two non-NPC chapters that are associated with CPC aren't participating in Formal Recruitment.
My chapters Bs were the same as yours.

They are. It's to avoid the conversations like: "I like to party, which is the best party house?" or "OMG! I was so drunk last night and I [insert the blank here]" or "I heard your house doesn't drink at all, is this true?"
Recruitment is about trying to get beyond the superficial things. Yes, social is a large aspect of our organizations, but we also believe there is something more meaningful in our sisterhood.

We only had two B's Boys and Booze. We weren't supposed to say things like.. "OMG you should TOTALLY be an RWQ because we hang out with the boys from PPG and they're like the BEST on campus!!!!" because girls should be choosing sisters, not dates.
A good example of why you shouldn't mention booze was given above
The bible thing was never an issue with us nor was the bucks, in fact sometimes girls would actually have questions or concerns about the dues and we would be honest and say that it was extra money, but here's what it goes to, and how a lot of our girls held a job and paid for it themselves.

Yeah I think people that join a house for superfical reasons lead to a house being shitty, but you need people that are in it for the brother/sisterhood
