Initiating Women from other schools

Hi!
I'm new to this site, and fairly new to AOII. I posted this same question elsewhere, but was directed to try it again here because you all know best

Anyway, I have a very very close friend from high school who goes to one of the military acadamies, where there is no real Greek Life and certainly not AOII. However, I think she truly exemplifies all of our ideals as well as all of us in my chapter. Is there any way for her to become an AOII, at some point, some how, even though her school does not have a chapter?

On the other forum I posted this on, a sister said that a biological sister had been initiated as an AOII after being very close with the chapter for a while. Is this common? Experiences, thoughts would be welcome

AOII does allow alumnae initiation. In most cases it is a friend or relative of an AOII who is active with a local chapter. We have initiated 3 alumnae initiates in my chapter over the years. All were mothers of AOII's who were serving as advisors or otherwise working with the local chapter.

This is not the only instance it occurs, but is one you will see more often. There are several AOII AI's on greek chat - each experience is different.

~ To address the other topic in your original thread: It is NOT ok to share AOII ritual information with anyone who is not an initiated member. This includes spouses, boyfriends, parents, children, friends, etc. Your fellow new member is very misinformed. Please share this with anyone else in your chapter that is under the impression that it was ok to do so.

and welcome to Greek Chat!

Hi NCGirl09 and welcome to GC!

There is a way for qualified women to join AOII at the alumnae level. One has even served as International President. Please talk to your Chapter President and Chapter Adviser. They could get the appropriate detailed information from HQ. Alumnae Initiation is not an everyday occurance and many chapters haven't done it in recent memory.
