Alpha Gam does the "With an A" song, too:

With an A, with an A, with an A-L-P,
With a P, with a P, with a P-H-A
With an A and an L and a P-H-A,
Alpha Gam!

Sing it, sing it, sing it,
Sing it to the sky
Come on Alpha Gams, never let it die!

(Continue with Gamma and Delta..."With a G, with a G, with a G-A-M, etc).

I didn't go through formal recruitment, so I've never really heard any of the other chapters' songs (except for the "Pi, Pi, Beta Phi" one, which I don't know the words to), and when we're walking to our houses on Bid Day, we're all trying to out-sing each other so it's hard to pick up on them then. I always have AGD songs stuck in my head for weeks after recruitment, though!

One that is especially notable for getting stuck in our heads is "Boom de Adah":

Boom de adah, Boom de adah, Boom de adah, Boom de adah,
Boom de adah, Boom de adah, Boom de adah, Boom de adah,

We are the Alpha Gams, that's our sorority
Now and forever, we pledge our loyalty
Through all eternity, our hearts will ever be
True to thee, Alpha Gamma Delta

Boom de adah, Boom de adah, Boom de adah, Boom de adah...

It's been at least 14 years since I last heard this, but the one I remember is Phi Mu's. Unfortunately I don't remember the rest of it. The Phi Mus at Ga. State used to sing:

I will be T-R-U-E true
To P-H-I-M-U Phi Mu
And you will L-O-V-E love it
Just as we all D-O do....

And then of course, the Zeta song that I still love to hear:

The beat of my heart is cryin' Z-Phi-B!
Come on, sorors, and sing along with me.
The beat of my heart is crying Z-Phi-B!
Everybody knows it's the best sorority!

Look over yonder, who's on the scene?
It's the Blue and the White, not the pink and the green.
Look over yonder, who's up ahead?
It's the Blue and the White, not the white and the red.
Look over yonder, who's on the go?
It's the Blue and the White, not the blue and the gold.

Zetas got might and Zetas got power.
'Cause we built the city of the Blue and White Tower.

The beat of heart is cryin' Z-Phi-B!

This thread is really bringing back the memories!

Here are my favorites from my chapter:

Chant:

A-A-A O Pi
Alpha Alpha Omicron Pi
me-for my-for AOPi
How I love my AOPi!

Song:

A rose ever blooming will grow through the years
To keep us together through love hope and tears
Though others may die and all fade away
Our love will continue each night and each day

Of all of the treasures this earth may contain
To thee I'll be faithful, with thee I'll remain
An AOII now and forever I'll be
For AOII means more than the world to me

Thumbs up

Wow, I love this thread. I'm at work but I can't stop doing these chants in my head! This is almost as addictive as rush threads!
I've been doing the KKG Chitty Chitty Bang Bang song all morning!
ARGH, I'm going rush-chant crazy.

I remember the KDs sang this one on the first round, I just remember part of it:

Hey Daddy
I've found the best sorority,
for you and me.
Hey Daddy,
I wanna be a Kappa D, la, la, la, a Kappa D, la, la la

I think all my DG chants have been posted, except this one. This wasn't a rush chant, but they did it on Bid Day for us;

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Hidy-Tidy, Gosh Almighty,
Who the hell are we?
Flim Flam, Hot Damn,
We're the Delta G's!

We do that all the time!!!

"Tri-Delta... do do do... Tri-Delta... do do do... Tri-Delta Tri-Delta do do do do do Delta D-D"
There is a whole other chorus to this song, lets see if I can remember this:

Tri Delta, da do do do, Tri Delta, da do do do Tri Delta
do do do do Delta D-D

Tri Delta its for you and me
Tri Delta its the way to be
Try Detla and you gonna see,
what a happy buncha girls live in
Delta D-D

It is kinda catchy. I love the Oscar Myer song that we have too-

My soroity has a first name, its D-E-L-T-A
My sorority has a second name, its D-E-L-T-A
So if you want cute girls galoe,
come on knockin on our door
Cause genetleman prefer to say
they date a D-E-L-T-A

For chapters that actually have a house, they said 'Come on knockin at {insert number of house here} door'
We also have some not nice ones, in response to some mean ones on our campus...but then agian, who doesn't

Tri Sigma:
In 1492 columbus sailed the ocean, in 1898 we were set in motion
sing it loud and sing it long, let it die no never
proudly boast from coast to coast we're sigma tri's forever
when satan came from down below he said with starry eyes:
there's only one thing wrong with hell there are no sigma tri's

(repeat the sing it part)

I also remember this one:

mmmm I want to linger mmmm a little longer mmm
a little longer here with you
mmmm it's such a perfect night mmmm it doesn't seem quite right
mmmm that this should be my last with you.

Chi O always did these that stuck in my head:

Chi Omega Chi Chi Omega
C-H-i-o-m-e-g-a Chi Omega
Chi Omega you will see is
the best fraternity
Chi Omega Go Chi O!

and then this one:
Everybody wants to be a Chi Omega
everybody knows that they're
RED HOT
Everybody wants to be a Chi Omega cuz
everybody know that they're RED HOT

(it then split into a round)

even my GDI friends go around singing Red Hot, once you've heard it it really sticks!

We still do these all the time:

Boom Boom
I'm glad I'm a ZTA
Boom Boom
Wouldn't have it any other way
Boom Boom
I'm a ZTA to stay
(pause)
Won't you come our way?
Boom Boom Boom
(pause)
Zeta Love is Good
Boom Boom
Won't you join our sisterhood?
Boom Boom
If you'd like to stay
(pause)
You can be a ZTA!

and

Ruh Rah Ruh Rah
Who the hell are we?
We're the Zeta ladies
We're the best fraternity
All the way, All the way ZTA
Gooooo Zeta!

This was my favorite during COB:

A Zeta Goodnight Goodnight Goodnight
Well it's time to go
(repeat)
A zeta Goodnight
We hate to leave you, but we really must say
Goodnight from ZTA!

We also have a different version of "Madness" and, although we never use the drinking song (A.K.A "Conversion") during rush, it's one of my favorites:

Oh you will be a Zeta if you know what's good for you
So listen while we sing to you our song of gray and blue
Our crest is best by test you see
We'll always treat you right
So raise your glasses high and drink to ZTA tonight
For you will find the girls as nice as they can be
So come along and join the best fraternity
We've got the pep, the go, that makes you want to say
Hallelujia I'm converted and I'll be a ZTA
Hallelujia I'm converted and I'll be a ZTA

Whew... my fingers and my brain hurt from trying to type all that!

I doubt that any AGD chapters do this now...I think the title is/was "The Paul Revere Song"

Listen my children and you shall hear
About the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
He went up the alley and down the street,
Saying "Alpha Gamma Delta is the one to beat"

Heido Ho.... Alpha Gammas are the Best,
Heido Ho,....Alpha Gammas are the Best,
Heido Ho..... Alpha Gammas are the Best,

Heido Ho,Heido Ho,Heido Ho.

No Promoting

For some odd reason my school has it in their head that PNMs would base their opinions on best sorority song or something so the chapters aren't allowed to sing songs with their names in them. I remember AF sang a song with the lyrics "These are the daaaays, we'll remember,..." during first party. I don't remember the title of the song, but I've heard it more than once. Also, FGP sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" during pref.

??????????????
Wow, that is just taking things too far.
Recruitment IS self-promotion, of the very best kind. Door songs and chants are one of the most innocuous ways we promote ourselves. Also, they are a great memory device, IMHO they help the pms remember where they've been.

And the fact that I rushed a million years ago but can still sing Gamma Phi, DG and Tri-Delt rush chants at a drop of a hat speaks to the fact that it was one of the more enjoyable, fun aspects of rush!

There have been many varieties of some chants for DG. Especially "I'm a Delta Gam bred..." Heres the one we usually use.

With a D and an E and a L T A,
and a G A M M A
Oh, Delta Gamma, thats what I ama (repeat)

I am Delta Gam born, and Delta Gam bred,
and when I die I'll be Delta Gam dead
so Rah Rah for DG, Rah Rah for DG, Rah Rah for DG,
DELTA GAMMA.

Heres my favorite one that hasn't been listed....

Do do do do wop wop, do do do do wop wop, do do do do wop wop, do do wop wop, DG.
We want you to go DG,
Round here it's the very best thing
All you gotta do is pledge DG
Now listen to the DG's sing...
We're singing....
Do do do do wop wop, do do do do wop wop, do do do do wop wop, do do wop wop, DG.
Delta Gamma, Delta, Delta Gamma
Welcome, remember this
We hope you pledge DG.
We're singing....(you get the picture I'm sure )

From the other chapters....

Always Kappa Gamma....was the one that was stuck in my head when I was a Rho Gam last year.

When I went through Pref at ADPi, they sang a version of Michael W Smith's Friends. That stuck out especially since it is a song that is very close to my heart.

Alpha Phi's version of Bim Bam Hot Damn I'm an Alpha Phi.

I knew a bunch from being a Rho Gam and I can't remember the other ones....I wish I had an Alpha Gam one to post.
