Resume for Reccomendations?

I have a relative who was heavily involved with Greek life and therefore knows people who are able to write recommendations for me, and she said all I need to send her is my resume and a photo. However, what kind of resume would I write for this? I would assume not the same one that I would use for a job or something, but what type of things should I include? Let me know and thanks so much!

You are correct-you want to write a social resume. Name, address, parents names, HS name, graduation year, class rank, GPA, then list school organizations you were a member of along with the years participated, leadership positions you held, honors and awards received, volunteer/charitable activities, and hobbies and interests ( if you want to).

You might be able to google "social resume" to see how to format.

FSUZeta: Thanks so much! I just looked it up online, and I noticed a section that says Greek affiliations. Should I leave this off? I don't have very many, so I'm not sure if it's beneficial to include or not.

It's up to you. That is a question asked on many recommendation forms, and I forgot to mention it (thanks for catching that).

Listing your affiliations can be a plus or a minus. On the one hand, it can demonstrate that you and your family understand the obligation and appreciate the privilege that sorority membership entails. It might get you a second look if you are a direct legacy. On the other hand, chapters that you do not have a direct legacy to might be hesitant to spend an invitation on you if you have strong ties to one or more sororities on campus.

Also, include whether or not the high school GPA is weighted, ACT/SAT scores, and both your email address or phone number. Most sorority alumnae will not write a rec without speaking with you first.

Also, know why you wish to join a sorority. It will come up in conversation, both before and during Recruitment.
