Also, not my lane, but if a guy wants to wear a dog collar, I might judge his taste but that's as far as I can take it. I mean, my husband has been into punk music since he was 14 or 15 and owns a dog collar and I can assure you that my red headed college drop out husband is no Que. HA!
Does this mean MJ wasn't hazed? Of course not, but that photo is no indictment. And likely his "pledge period" was somewhat modified, even if he wasn't honorary per se. NCAA athletes, and especially basketball players have crazy schedules. I doubt he had the time to do the study hours, house cleaning, whatever, that his pledge brothers might have been expected to do. That's part of the compromise a collegiate organization makes by having well known members. NPC sororities have to deal with it all the time for cheerleaders, band members, athletes, etc. and nobody, certainly outside of the school would even know their names.
/ETA And, by the way, it was the 80's. People actually did wear dog collars in public. Dorky? Absolutely. But true, even in Iowa.
