Thanks Munchkin03! Our big day will be either in August of 2016 or February of 2017. My fiancee is in the military and we are waiting to see if his new unit will come down on deployment orders or not early next year. As soon as we know, all of our deposits will be sent in! How about you?

p.s. I absolutely love your first pick. It's a stunning gown!

Both of you put up some pretty gowns. txAOII_15, that dress and bodice is beautiful! Munchkin03, I agree - that first dress is gorgeous.

I really did try on more than two designers! I thought for sure that I was going to pick a Monique Lhuillier, but they just ended up feeling too frilly. There's one where I looked like a broom. Gorgeous dresses! Just not my style. I'm a big fan of clean lines.

Surprisingly, these all cost less what I had estimated for a dress. More money for shoes!
Is it just the strong photographic lighting, or is this dress see-through? Under her arms is a diagonal line, is that her undergarment or is that a seam?

I think it's the lighting. I looked at a few photos of myself in it, and couldn't find the line.

To me it looks a lot like a seam.

Well, I said yes to that dress! Instead of silk faille it will be dupioni. A little heavier for a fall wedding.

Not sure about veil, bridal belt, etc. But now I know it's barre and spin time!

I have to fangirl over one of my favorite custom designers, Nancy Barrus who works out of Avenia Bridal in UT.

More fangirling over Alta Moda out of Utah. They specialize in working with designers to create custom modest gowns for LDS brides but some of them are seriously beautiful (without that obvious modest and ugly look.)

Those are beautiful and graceful without looking frumpy. Also, I love a cap sleeve on a dress.

I've known brides (in the last few years) who had to go to a 'modest' designer because they don't want a strapless dress which is almost the only style they they could find in regular boutiques. A friend wanted a full ball gown (princess) skirt for her dress and had a hard time finding that. She did get one, but almost everything was a-line or mermaid.

It's funny that most people say that it is hard to find stuff with straps.

Outside of modest-specific boutiques, most designers will work with you to customize. Ex: If you find a Lazaro with no straps and you want straps, you/your boutique can reach out to them and if you give them enough time (and obviously pay customization fees), they can do it.

That's exactly what I did!
I found a dress I absolutely loved but didn't come with straps .. so I paid extra to have them add it on! You'd never know it didn't come with straps; it flows seamlessly
