OK this is sad...I haven't read any of the Harry P books, so can someone please explain to me why it might be bad to call a house "Slytherin"? Is it kind of like picking M*A*S*H* characters and calling it the Frank Burns house?

If I was a PNM I would use gemstones. Emeralds, Rubies, Diamonds, Pearls, Sapphires....
That would be fun!!

Slytherin is the house in Harry Potter that all the mean and evil students that torture Harry and his friends are in. It's also the house that Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters were in (all the villains, in other words.)

I once thought about that too! Though, I remember last year someone pointed out that, since many sororities have jewels as a part of their tradition/symbols, it might not be a good idea. In other words, people might assume that the Ruby house is Alpha Omicron Pi or something.

That's exactly what I was thinking. And of course she could label Slytherin as a house she didn't like. All in all it's gonna be entertaining.

Ha, yeah, but I don't know that many GC'ers are going to get the M*A*S*H reference (at least not the collegians).

I would so understand the MASH, would the Klinger character be the cross dressing group and Hot Lips be the party group?

I'm the one with the Hogwarts houses! I've already figured out which house is going to be Slytherin. i randomly picked, and it isn't a house I dislike, cause I like them all so far! It would be kind of weird to say I joined Slytherin, but I'll do it if needed! I hope it doesn't sway my judgement, I don't want to automatically love Gryffindor and dislike Slytherin. I'll probably end up in Ravenclaw anyway, I'm kinda bookish and nerdy lol!

The Carnation Twins were going to use gems last year and then everything happened so fast...it seems like we were finally able to assign gems to houses that had nothing to do with the gem. Lemme see, we had amethyst, emerald, ruby, opal, turquoise, and topaz. Maybe we'll try those again!

My dad was in a MASH unit... They actually showed his unit during the final episode of MASH.
I want to let everyone know what the chapters do on Philanthropy night, so I'll put a description with names, and then use my country names to post my feelings about the groups without details about the activities. I want to feed the addiction with more than, "I liked house 5, I didn't like house 6."
