Kent Sate University, it's the last major school in Ohio without a Kappa Chapter.

I wish the San Jose State University chapter would re-open (Delta Chi, I believe). I'm from San Jose, and I go to school only 40 minutes away in Santa Cruz. I'm also hoping to go to grad school at SJSU. How cool would it be to be involved there?

I occasionally lurk on the Theta board (my daughter is a Theta) and saw this post on their colonization thread: "I'd like to see a Theta chapter at every school with both a Pi Phi and a Kappa Chapter. Don't ask why, I'm not sure I could explain it." I have to admit, I agree with that sentiment (switching "Kappa" and "Theta" in the sentence, of course! )
I posted the Kappa overlap numbers on the Frequent Competitors thread on the Greek Life forum. Sure enough, we share campuses (campii?) with Pi Phis (92) and Thetas (91) more than any other GLOs. I scrolled back through the information provided by irishpipes (who needs to do laundry?) and found we are found at 65 colleges/universities with BOTH Pi Phi and Theta.
If anyone else is interested, here is a list of colleges/universities that have the other two GLOs, but Kappa is not present :
Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA
San Diego State University, San Diego, CA
Ball State University, Muncie, IN
Eastern KY University, Richmond, KY
University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS
University of Nevada at Reno, Reno, NV
University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND
Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA
University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD
University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA
I must say, the information compiled by irishpipes in the recruitment 2007/2008 thread is nothing short of amazing. I'll warn you it is a black hole for time, however!! Looking through the information, I was awed, and almost humbled, but the paucity of closed Kappa chapters. It is testament to the individuals making decisions re: colonization, to the alumni supporting both colonies and active chapters, and of course to our wonderful actives that we have so few dormant locations. Kudos to all!

You don't have to log in to read that page. Go to kkg.org, then click on "New Kappa Chapters." I'm really frustrated by that group in Conneticut!

I can now safely confirm that this SCSU "kappa gamma" situation in the other thread is being handled by the appropriate HQ people. And no, the situation is not one of a colony or even aspiring colony according to HQ.

I personally would like to see us colonize at Loyola Marymount. One of our chapter's sisters transferred out there and was very sad when there wasn't a chapter for her to affiliate with.

Thank goodness. I looked at the Common Data Sets of this school since I was appalled at the writing style of the poster who originally alerted us to this situation. Let's just say that SCSU students don't have academic stats typical of most schools with Kappa chapters.

(I just read the whole thread about "Kappa Gamma" and am SO glad it's being handled. It made me furious to read that. Not to mention that they call themselves "Kappa" on their MySpace... It was just NOT okay)
