Saw on an E! True HOllywood story that he traded in acting for being a carpenter, and hasn't looked back.

But Jakey, you were so hot!!!

Yeah, so did I.

Speaking of feeling old....

1) I know a few people who MADE the music of the "retro" late 70s/early 80s--and I remind them of that once in a while until they threaten to El Kabong me w/ whatever instrument is handy.

2) At a camp where I was a counselor, movie night was "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". The kids ate it up with a spoon, thought it was the funniest damn thing they'd seen in their 14-year-old lives, had no clue where it came from.

The following actually came out of my mouth:

"This movie had a huge cult following when I was YOUR age!"

The kids loved it. I had a little cry later on.

I am only 24 and I *LOVE* Sixteen Candles! It was my sister's favorite movie, so I grew up watching it all the time.

I do remember that the guy who played Jake Ryan also was in "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken," if you are into that sort of thing. I do remember seeing the fact that he traded in acting to be a carpenter, too.

I have too many favorite quotes from that movie to even think about which was my favorite...

I love seeing people who are old at 30 (? ) Damn KIDS!!!!!!!!!

I have read this thread and have no damn idea hoosier these people that they are talking about?

Have some respect or check with a Mod before you post something of this catastrophic nature on GC!

It may be an affront to some members, but not me!

I think that actually its when gravity catches up with breasts that you know you are aging . . . if the breasts never sag then you never age . . . Conversely if breasts sag young . . well you are prematurely aged . . it might have been in maxim or FHM magazines.

For men, its when they have to make that crucial decision on whether to wear there belts over their big bellies or under them . . .

I guess that I am still a teenager based on your, I mean Maxim's or FHM's logic. Maybe that's why I still get proofed when I go out.

I got the Jake Ryan reference after a few seconds. He was a hottie!

Yes, Yes, Yes, I not only know who Jake Ryan (and Michael Schoeffling) is and why he and his Porsche matter! Even better was: "Blaine? His name is Blaine? That's a major appliance, that's not a name!" I wanted to kiss Blaine in the stables and in the parking lot and have Duckie as a best friend.

Sigh, I saw that movie no less than 25 times in first run. While in college. Have the theater poster, video and DVD. And actually had my very own Duckie. I was a lucky girl.

Smart kids I sat down with the oldest one to finally 'let' him watch Holy Grail, and he didn't get ANYTHING. Nothing. I laugh until cry during Holy Grail, and he thought I'd lost my mind.

Anyone ever see the "Knights of the Round Table" short at the lego.com site? Absolute perfection!

Actually, I think I remember hearing that he lived in Chester County, which is shadokat's neck of the woods.
