My chapter started as a interest group in late 2000. We petitioned in early 2001. We reactivated last April. We would rush each semester only to get 2-4 more pledges, and even some of them would drop or transfer. Despite our disappointments we would work our butts off and strive for the best...well it has finally payed off...this semester!!! We have pledged 10 quality members within the last few weeks (which is one more than our active class). This may not sound much, but we are a special interest (service) GLO on an apathetic commuter campus (some social sororities don't even get this many pledges after formal rush
) I've seen this chapter do a 180 within the last year.
Now, I know that quantity doesn't always equal quality. But, this time around I have the feeling that this increased interest and retention in our organization is tied into our actives' attitude and initiative.
For those who are in small, beginning, or struggling chapters, do not give up! Keep working hard and stay committed, it will pay off. If we can do it ANYONE can!
