Pledge Pins

Hey guys, I recently became the president of my fraternity. And I was hoping to start doing pledge pins next year. We aren't a national fraternity but I was wondering where I could order pledge pins?

Well sir, it would depend on the design you want. Most pledge pins I've seen have been really small and inexpensive.

First design the pin.

Then make inquiries to various online lapel pin companies like http://www.pinmart.com/

I advise against an actual jeweler because, well, it's just a pledge pin. No need for anything elaborate like a badge would look.

I take it you're the president of a local fraternity?

You have a few options.

You can design a pledge pin that includes your colors or a symbol, and then find a local jeweler to make them. Pledges turn in their pledge pins upon initiation, so you have pins available for the next class.

You can have your pledges wear ribbons in your fraternity colors. A safety pin and a bit of ribbon and you're set. (This is similar to what my sorority does. We ribbon our new members as soon as possible, and a week or two later we give them their new member pins.)

There's no reason your pledges have to wear pins ... I joined a local sorority that later became a chapter of AEPhi, and as a pledge I was required to wear a pledge ring.

You may want to check out etsy.com and see if you can find someone to craft your pledge pins / rings / whatever.

We have to make ours, and I know a lot of the fraternities do too.
